In today’s video we are so stoked to share with you Jeremy’s official van tour! He built this van out with the intention of making it the best expedition ready van possible. This means a few things, it has to be off-road capable, off-grid, and built to last. Keeping all that in mind, his van is truly one of the best adventure vans built with everything you need to go months on end in the van.
Are you building out an expedition ready van? Leave a comment down below of what your essentials are!

Dope build. What we found useful on our journey was having leveling blocks (not sure if your suspension can be automatically tuned to level out).

Great video, as always. However, if you really mean to tackle the panamerican highway, you might want to add some extra security features to the van. Bulletproof the windows is a good starting point. Also, I don't remember now if you do, but if u have permanent stairs, switch it for a telescopic one that u keep inside. Adding some extra locks to all access points is also necessary. These are bare minimum. Most important is awareness. Keep it safe. Good luck.

Awesome build, I want one in a couple of years with some minor mods from yours. If you follow Snow and Curt's travels you will know Mercedes are a PITA for parts and service in South America, so the large storage box on your rear door should be packed with known consumable spare parts. Cheers!

Loved your presentation. We traveled the Pan-American Highway in 1974 and think your van is well-equipped to tackle this long journey. I wish we would have had an extra fuel tank and skid-plate protection. Not sure how diesel engines perform at high-altitude (Peru, Bolivia). One piece of advice: protect your van and exterior add-ons from possible theft.

The extra fuel tank is very good advice! Also the DPF can be problematic indeed in higher altitudes...

Good video. Having a van built out ( just about finished ) and the 47 gallon fuel tank and the AO engine & transmission skid plate was something I did add.

Great video thanks for posting. I have a 2019 sprinter 2020 Revel with the large 40 gal diesel tank and aux 20 gal spare water tank in wheel well. Total water is 44 gal I believe. Also have the van compass 4.3. When I’m full van seems really heavy. Do you think any more beefing up of the suspension is required other than the 4.3?

Nice video, well explained. One of the drawbacks of a Sprinter is access to parts and servicing. Now that Ford Transit has joined the party (especially the new Transit Trail), this will become a really viable Overlander. Also Regular fuel will keep the cost down significantly and a proven powertrain (+ more power thanks the Sprinter)

My take: Nice capsule -why did u chose the sprinter 148" over the transit smart awd?. 2-did not see space for number 1 at least... 3-does your insurance cover the mod camper outside the US? How is the water heating system from engine working out? How long to heat the water? Mpg should be about 17. -what is the width east to west of the bed? What is the budget for 19,000 miles all inclusive? What is your time frame? -stay away from bad-hombres south of the border.... My apologies for so many questions,

Great looking van! With the bed set up, how much distance is there from side to side? Could a 6’ person sleep east to west?

If you don’t want your gear getting stolen from the outside racks you should definitely upgrade those spindly master locks ✌️

Yeah I thought so too, but the pins for the Max Tracks have very small holes for the locks.

Impressive build! I notice you have gone with what appears to be ¾" wall panels ... curious, do you know what your total weight is with the fuel and water tanks filled is?

I am 850 lbs. under GVWR with this build and one passenger.

@@VanLand We have a question that we would be grateful if you might give your opinion. For the wall panels we are planning on gluing ⅛" closed cell foam to a plywood panel followed by gluing a Marathon Tweed fabric to the foam. After the panels are completed we plan to rivet the panels to the van wall ribs using large head aluminum rivets. There is no real load on the wall panels and while we were originally planning on using a ¼" plywood we are now wondering if ⅛" plywood would be a better choice considering the weight savings. By chance, have you used ⅛” plywood for wall panels and if so, would you recommend it in lieu of ¼”.

What about when you break down? How well are Sprinters able to be serviced in the middle of nowhere?
@VanLand
@VanLand Жыл бұрын
It’s a pretty easy van to work on. Lots of space around the engine and underneath. But Sprinters rarely break down in our experience. Can’t think of a more reliable option.

I have a quick question, please. How much space do the addition of the flares provide for the bed?

About 6-8 inches depending on how you finish them out inside.

Good question. I have the mobile RV version. I would expect it to work everyone there is Starlink service but haven’t confirmed.

Won’t work in Canada…yet! I have been looking at the star link system for our camping use and we cannot cross international boarders if we are registered in Canada. It has recently opened up for use across Canada though…so I’m expecting international use is only a matter of time.
