People used to call the police on me when i parked (pick up/drop off)outside my kids' school for being suspicious. It was a public street outside the school or in the parking lot where they went to school for 9 years. Annoying people need to realize the actual creepy people are getting away with stuff because the nosy people focus on normal folks. Glad the police where chill. I'm black and extremely paranoid of incidents like this!

There is no law that says you can’t take pictures of people as long as you’re in public. You can take pictures of all the people you want. There’s no expectation of privacy in public.

@@mwhappy24 then, I guess people shouldn't go out in public anymore, because in urban areas... everyone is on camera. I've never seen Chantel deliberately " film" anyone in particular, only people that might get into her shots.... Legally, there's no expectation of privacy in public. ( It's part of the first amendment).

My little Apt is $1,320, so I really want to start traveling again, but w/ A/C! Last year, I lived in my Jeep, and nothing screams "homeless" like having my 3 front covered. So I left the front/side windows uncovered. I had a black curtain between the front & back seat. My bed was down on the floorboard with black blankets, so my legs from hip to toe were hidden. I was so low on the floor, so people never realized that I was inside, morning, noon or night. So I was able to park in any RICH neighborhood, so no more searching for a place to park, and I was never harassed or listening to every little noise and I could sleep in everyday.

I will say unknown to you , they have had lots of problems in the Mesa / Gilbert area with strange and unusual people . But filming a sign ?!! OMG . Many neighborhoods in AZ are even worse. Some have parks that are completely private property even though they aren’t gated. They belong to the neighborhood and its residents. No tax dollars go into maintenance. It’s all paid for by HOA money. That’s how it is in Estrella Mountain Ranch in Goodyear AZ. I really liked living there…wish I still did.

Ha ha ha ha, I can't imagine someone, anyone mistaking you for a predator. Dang girl, that isn't a very friendly HOA. And do they own the park? She was in a neighborhood park, meaning That particular subdivision paid to have the park put there. The HOA dues pay for upkeep of that park. Plus with the elementary school right behind yeah an over zealous HOA member got suspicious. But your not a creep far from it. A lot of folks still don't understand vanlife it's not normal to them.

HOA member here, and yeah - HOAs attract all sorts of petty tyrants. We have a city park right across the street bordering one side of our neighborhood and you'd think the neighborhood owns it the way some of them try and police the park. 🙄

We lived in Avondale, and one day of not putting in the garbage can, the next business day, we received a stamped mail from the HOA about it. That was probably the fastest mail we ever received.

I don't think anyone was in the wrong. One person called the cops just to be safe and you weren't doing anything wrong and explained things to the cops! Sounds like everyone did good.

So, while I was in Scottsdale getting the ceramic coating applied to Fannie Mae, I was staying at the local Cracker Barrel. Just shortly before midnight, I got my very first knock. It seems that if a Cracker Barrel is on privately owned (industrial private property), you can't stay overnight. So I found my way to a neighborhood that was just a few minutes away from where I needed to drop off Fannie Mae! I'm looking forward to seeing where your next adventures take you 🎉

I live in a very wealthy neighborhood. I spend a lot of time in my van at parks. I get called on to the police often. It's to the point that I expect it. I mind my own business. Nosey people everywhere. ~ Scary Mary 🦋

Yep I got the sheriff called on me last night. I was just sitting there minding my own business watching a movie and car showed up and left then 20 minutes later sheriff showed up. Seriously I was not parked anywhere near anyone, nor at a no overnight parking

THIS !!!! All these ppl calling the person a Karen for calling. I have seen to many of these calls where the person ,and yes one call was a WOMEN. AND one was a couple. They were sex offenders and stalked the children. I'm so so disappointed in all these people talking crap saying she was harassed and the caller was a Karen. This is really nothing to be making jokes at. 😭

Crazy that we missed each other. I spend alot of time at Desert Arroyo park. One of the best kept secrets in my opinion. Cops have never had the guts or legitimate reason to approach me, and I'm there alot. They dried looking in my van with a drone once. And once a cop waited at the school & followed me out to the road. But again, no probable cause or guts to come talk to me. Maybe it's because I'm a traveling gospel minister & they'r afraid I'm going to tell them the good news about Jesus Christ and everlasting life in the ages to come.😄 Happy travels! ✨️🚐✨️

I was just in Apache junction on the 22nd to the 24th! We were visiting my aunties who are snowbirds from ND and they each have little mobile homes in a couple of the parks . We went through the Superstition mountains on Saturday to Tortilla Flat, so beautiful out there! Sorry some lame people called the cops on you. Take care!

Wow, you were in the area I live in. Well, technically, I live in Gilbert but Mesa is close. If you’re ever in the area again, there’s a great park called discovery Park. They have a pond with ducks and nobody bothers you there. You can stay from 6 AM till 10 PM and nobody bothers you. Thanks for the great video.

Just starting to watch this but had to say… dearly love and miss my first set of in-laws that live at base of superstitions. Lived in Gilbert afterwards for many years… currently in rainy Oregon after having been born and spending first 19 years of life in Puyallup, Wa. Left for East Memphis at 19 and been on an unplanned journey for last 27 years 😱🤣🤪💜👍 You go, girl! Wish I would have had opportunity of van life but it wasn’t a thing when I graduated hs in ‘97. I admire you!!! LOVED the sign at the laundry mat…. The Gambler 🥰🤣😂💜 Don’t suppose you’re still in the area but if you can ever hike to the flat iron on Superstions…. Amazing! And the ones in AJ & Mesa who were typically the busy bodies were what we would call snowbirds or blue hairs 🤣🥰

Hello from Apache junction 👋 we just got a new coffee shop that opened up it's called gravity coffee haven't tried it yet but heard it's good. For pet food I always go to the tractor supply store it's a bit cheaper than shoppers. Also was just hiking up there in the mountain the day before the storm and almost stepped on a rattlesnake in the trail the weather is so up and down right now. So Welcome and enjoy your stay! !

I'm a newbie, and I want to ask, don't you guys have like motor camps/camping grounds over there? I'm in nz, and we can go to a camp. Get a non-powered site for about $15 a night. Includes use of kitchen, bathrooms, laundry maybe a pool or beach, free wifi, water, etc. If you did this once a week, it'd be cheaper than paying separately to get chores done. It's also way safer and nicer than a wallmart. There's an app to look up pet friendly ones, too. In NZ, but I hear the USA is ahead of time 😂 Happy travels 💐

My only caveat to the you can film whomever you choose is my life as the daughter of a Deputy US Marshal who worked in witness protection and this cavalier attitude of I will do why I want an endanger others...some might be fleeing abuse or in witness protection...there are so many things it can jeopardise and I wish it were not the new norm. You did nothing wrong and I adore you and cannot imagine you doing anything to hurt anyone but there are real dangers out there and I was traumatised as a child by my dad's job. I had unpublished numbers...no name on our mailbox, and we were (my sister and I) were followed and threatened when she tried to take me to see 101 Dalmatian's. Believe me...there are situations when people should be able to maintain their safety, too. It's all give and take. Take care and xoxo to Joey! 🩵 That salad looks amazing!

Taking video in public is not illegal. It’s also Not illegal to video people. So their proactive policing is a form of bullying. Would end up in court. Cost the cities money. FYI the city of Gilbert and mesa record you. This makes me furious.

I've lived in Phoenix, the actual city, for over 20 years. I'm not a city person either! I had someone suspicious of me once because I was taking pictures of wild plants. They weren't on anyone's property. So weird.

They are paranoid and see the world through a twisted filter where anyone they don’t know are bad and up to no good. I live in an area full of them. They monitor cars coming and going in the neighborhood, alerting everyone on Next Door to the danger in their heads. 99.9 % of the time it’s someone looking for an address, got lost, or working like doing deliveries of food, packages, real estate people… it’s so ridiculous. I had a neighbor who would call all day… did you see that white car? Did you see that black suv?.. No I’m working I’m not the security team! I’m not staring out my window looking for the evil people all day. Lock your crap up if your worries about it and get a life! Ugh!
