Helsinki Central Library Oodi opened in 2018 and within no time began to win awards and praise from around the world. As I found myself in Helsinki Finland I decided I should go and have a look at this marvel of the library universe. As I began to explore "Oodi" I realised this Libary put your library and my library to shame. We could all have libraries as lovely as Oodi but sadly our leaders won't build them like Oodi for the rest of us. Is Oodi the world's greatest Libary?

It can only be a blessing to be born in a country like Finland. A newly born in Finland is already a few years ahead compared to the people of majority of countries across the world. It is the happiest nation in the world for a reason.

Finland, small people, since 1920s, our "founding Farhers" after bitter civil war. Saw that free education first by libraries then 1950s free education who ever can, Still is Helsinki UNi 600 euros per year, and government pays you to study 1200/ month, you can get student loans backed by the State uptill your Doctorate, then you get a fancy tophat and a SWORD.( Symbolic meaning) to get the most of this dum agrarian country.🤣

Great presentation in my hometown library OODI. Thank you. For us Finns, the "EU" is not "propaganda", but genuine cooperation with all people who respect democracies. Working together is better than a few links. History teaches .. And we don't value class societies very much. We value the equality of the people. We are also the most equal country in the world.
@TheWonderingEnglishman
@TheWonderingEnglishman 2 жыл бұрын
I dont value class either. However, the EU is far from equal. Its Authoratarian and leading us towards Totalitarianism. Open borders is slowly putting an end to the European utopia dream. I note you support Ukraine (as do I as you will have probably seen). The EU is in part responsible to where we are now in Ukraine. 2014 happened because of EU meddling. Ukraine today understands the value of borders whereas the EU has no cares for borders. Its a heated topic but I urge you to delve into the accounts of the EU and then tell me Its about equality. I wish the Finns and all Europeans prosperity I simply don't see the need for a corrupt political union that benefits the technocrats and the largest corporations.

@@TheWonderingEnglishman You are not stubid, so your opinions are clearly propakanda, and they are not a fact at all. You are the victim of your own non-neutral press. Miko my opinions are shaped over decades of academic research into the EU. Business dealings with EU legislation and going out of my way to disect the inner workings of the EU. The majority of the press are pro European Union. I dont let their biased bought and paid for opinions influence my findings on the EU. I ask you again very politely to look into the EU accounts, EU expenses and the bureaucracy. It's not an open political union so it will take time to dissect all that but it will be worth your time if you have the time.

Please refer to crime stats from the last 5 decades for obvious patterns that can be revealed from the last 10 years. Rape is up. Crime is up. Violent crime is up. A pattern that is repeated in all developed countries in the west thanks to the influx of low grade migrants. Having lived in London most of my life I see this corrosion of society, the city and the nation thanks to its open door policy.

It does not matter. All libraries in Helsinki region (also Vantaa, Kauniainen and Espoo) are in the same network and library system. This means you can order any book from any library and it will be delivered to your local library in a few days, for free. In this way, all libraries are equal.

completely agree with you saying UK libraries are nowhere near as nice as this, but don't understand how they're closures "are to make progress for globalism." It sounds like a highly partisan and vague excuse to disguise Tory austerity and chronic underfunding of public services.
@TheWonderingEnglishman
@TheWonderingEnglishman 2 жыл бұрын
I spent a large chunk of my lifetime involved in Politics and connected to the Tories. And sadly this corrupt disaster of a party isn't helping things in the UK. Austerity is part to blame but the bigger part to blame is to subsidise the corporations with cheap imported labour. Labour that comes with a cost as it brings those who work and those who do not work. Schools, hospitals, housing and the roads are excessively overcrowded much to the living standards of everyone in the UK. This Library goes to show what can be achieved but it also goes to show how corrupt and wasteful the UK government is.

@TheWonderingEnglishman You obviously don't know the definition of propaganda. It's just promoting, without any biased, misleading nature. You could say you don't like the EU promoting everywhere, that's OK. But propaganda is something you can see in Russia 1. Despite that, great video.
@TheWonderingEnglishman
@TheWonderingEnglishman Ай бұрын
Everytime an organisation that’s political promotes itself it is engaging it propaganda. **Propaganda** is information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view. It often involves the dissemination of information, ideas, or rumors deliberately spread to influence public opinion or to obscure the truth. Propaganda can be delivered through various media, including newspapers, books, films, radio, television, and the internet, and it is often used by governments, political parties, or other organizations to sway people’s attitudes and beliefs. The EU with this display is attempting to sway public opinion in a positive way with its free maps, free stickers. So of course this is propaganda especially if you see how corrupt the EU is. I also appreciate the EU has many fans and the last thing I want to do is fall out over something that really doesn’t matter in terms of our interactions. I appreciate the view and thank you for the kind comment.
