You sure had one of the nicest holidays at Lake Como. I've enjoyed all you've shown so far. The blue skies, water, walks. Makes me keen for spring to be sprung and new adventures to be had. I so find our stamina is somewhat less in this weather. We do walk but under duress 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣! Enjoy the weekend. It wasn’t toilet water (gosh I hope it wasn’t 😂) there was a lever next to the sink, between the sink and the toilet, it was a shared toilet and Nick had gone in before me and had worked out it squirted water out (no idea what it was for) as he came out and I went in he told me the flush is in a weird place it’s the lever on the wall stupid me not seeing the loo had a normal flush pulled the lever and got soaked 😂 I learnt a lesson there! It is nice watching sunny videos in these winter months, roll on Spring 👍❤️

Beautiful area with a gorgeous lake! The pizza by that stunning view would be wonderful! Lovers walk was lovely. So were two of the lovers! Probably many more, but we don't know them. thats brilliant Dave, a pretty picture indeed of them all indulging in Root Beer and making the most of the free loos 😂 brilliant. well it could have been worse it could have been full of Brits, that would definitely have me rethinking my next vacation there! thankfully they all behaved with an air of decorum you can expect from an American abroad, unlike us British counterparts! 👍

Thank you Ervin, we are sorry we didn’t venture out on the Wayfarers Path which connects Bellano and Varenna high up in the solitude of the hills above. It’s a multi-day/stage walk that prides itself on solitude and idyllic Chapels and places of worship. its well worth investigating..

When you were spinning your camera around at the start you cannot help but think what a gorgeous setting it is there, high or low. Haha another free park and what a stunning lunch spot, only trouble would be, I would not move, I would be quite happy there eating, drinking and looking at that view. Could not believe the price of a train ticket, no wonder train travel in dying in the UK, with the extortionate prices we are charged. More great views from the Lovers Walk but a few too many people around for me but still worth it to get to the castle, despite all the stairs outside and inside the castle itself. I hope you did not have nightmares about Tinky Linda when you went to bed, cheers Alan

Tinky Linda, im almost a bit scared using that name, the Italians are huge believers in the legend and the spirit. I will be under the covers tonight just in case! not just here in Italy but I watch a lot of KZfaqrs, some of them even British Rail workers and you can pretty much travel the length of Europe or Russia for less than a short distance train ride here in the UK. for a country that is supposed to have some great green targets for the future they are not helping incentivise us back onto trains with all the Union Strikes and extortionate prices. get rid of the Unions and re Nationalise the train lines, thats the fastest way to get green in the UK! not sure they can get away calling it the Lovers Walk if you cannot walk adjacent your loved one. single file in a queue the entire length? Hmm. very pretty but not romantic! thank you so much for watching, excited to see Alcock Tarn again, it was where we went with my Mum when my Dad passed, a lovely spot close to our hearts 👍

WOW! What an amazing film! Cheap car parking, and totally brilliant scenery all around. I normally relate these superb films to the Trippple C Club during the week. Everybody (normally pensioners), cant believe how people live and travel throughout Europe. Hats off to you both and as I explain to the envious, you both budget to achieve such outstanding holidays. The furthest most people in our club have ventured to is Eastbourne on the south coast of the UK. This is without doubt a brilliant FIVE STAR FILM ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is the second film to achieve this accolade this week (Tramp In The Hills was the other one). Well done Nick & Jill.

thank you so much Mike, yes we loved The Tramp In The Hills film too, pity about the JBP on both our videos but I didn’t mind the atmospheric weather he got on Whernside, I’ve been up in a white out and it was a very magical and memorable experience. on that note I’m editing a Tramp in the Hills collab as I type, it will be up in the next week or two! as for Eastbourne I went as a child and loved it. thanks to the UKs road network I can probably get to Milan in about the same time sadly. I’m long overdue an explore of the beautiful South! ♥️

Such a gorgeous place. Loved the look of it as you drove along. Food at the lake and with a mountain setting is so nice, pizza on the lake would be so good! Varenna is stunning and Lovers Walk very romantic, nice photo from the past 😃Love Lake Como, and those prayer places were lovely. Hi Nick and Jill hope you are both well. We really enjoyed escaping to Varenna for a while, how lovely the sea sun and mountains a real escape. What a view to enjoy your pizzas 🍕. I loved the swing Jill I always have to have a go when I see one too. Lovers walk was stunning great views and some lovely flowers too. The sun shining off the lake was wonderful ✨️. I wouldn't like those stairs in the castle would have to let Dave do that bit and show me afterwards. The gardens have a great setting. Scary train stations but great views out the window. Hi Nick and Jill, loved the title of your video, hehe! My American husband refuses to go anywhere abroad where there are too many Americans. He feels embarrassed by the behaviour of some - the loud and demanding types🫢😂A bit like us Brits when we encounter 'lager louts' in Spain. It's a shame when somewhere as picturesque as that doesn't retain its natural charm and culture. No locals but masses of tourists. The Hiking Hermit would not find that very hermit-friendly. Haha, "God damn annoying walk!" 😂It was quite a climb to the castle but worth it for the fabulous views. It was great to get a peek inside the castle too. Thanks for the entertaining vlog, guys. thats it exactly isn’t it? ive never been to Benidorm, I can only imagine what the Brits have done to that place, we are an embarrassment! to be fair the Americans were all behaving quite dignified, id have been horrified and never returned if it had been full of Brits! definitely no Italian culture to immerse in at Varenna but it’s such a lovely spot, we’ve been twice, moaned about the tourists twice and will still go again im sure! there are some amazing places you can go close by for that authentic experience so visiting again was on us. the castle was breathtaking though, one of the best we have ever visited! 👍

Italy never disappoints. Great scenery. We found the same thing in Italy on our trip last year. Way more tourist (even us American/ Italians) then locals. Free parking is always a plus 👍👍. Was this your go pro footage ?? Looks so clear. Good video guys.

I keep missing you...my fault totally...I did look, I just can't get it wrapped around my head that you're sometime after the Galante's on Friday LOLOL...but I do get to watch on the big screen in the quiet of the living room! Come back to the computer to comment...I loved watching this and all the walking which I could never do...how the heck am I going to Italy...I need to go though...I will make it by hook or by crook! it really is a stunning place, think it’s falling foul a little bit now of its own popularity but neighbouring Bellano was all Italian and a short walk to the Castle or a stretch out on the Wayfarers Path will afford you the solitude to take in all the incredible views. Thanks Jill and Nick for this amazing video from Italy. Would love one day return. I did travel as a backpacker by train in the 90s there. And we went down to Brindisi to catch the ferry to the Greece island Corfu. And of course back same way, but with little changed plans we took train to Paris, France. Loved the video, think you were right, more Americans than Italians, but i suppose it's just so popular because of how bloody stunning it is!! That pizza looked so Bellissima! mmmm! That's not a bad price for two pizzas and drinks and a view, pretty impressive really. Nice to be able to see around different parts of Italy that i've personally never heard of. Would certainly love to visit Varenna though, it looks so pretty and serene. Oh wow!!!! The castle is amazing, what stunning views across the lakes! Hi Nick and Jill, really enjoyed your visit to Varenna, the car parking is a bit OTT, so pleased you found free parking. The pizza"s you had at the restaurant looked so delicious. Nice cheap train ride and the walk up to the Castle was a little steep but wow it was beautiful at the top and the views from the top were gorgeous. Made us laugh with the lovers walk. Wasn't it busy. Lots of lovely scenery, Tony wasn't impressed with seeing the Fish and Chip Shop ha ha, take care, have a lovely weekend x Julie and Tony x

Finally met people who love their anchovies. Nice Pizzas. Balleno is pretty. Varena seems a lovely place to visit. Not sure about the Lovers Walk, very popular. Lake Como is certainly beautiful. Certainly is. Id have preferred all that in the USA but the exchange rate is crippling us Brits at the moment. when and if that ever changes the USA will be the place we will holiday again. Still baffles me why any American has a passport, you have everything!

Castello Di Vezio has such amazing views! Lake Como is gorgeous and yes many Americans want to go there for a visit. Nice that the train rides are not expensive and easy to use. The pizza looked amazing and I love Coke Zero too! Fun video Nick and Jill. I hope you had a great weekend! ~ Anita 😊👍

What a beautiful destination and lovely to see the sun ! Food looked exquisite and clear plates proved it... it's fabulous being able to eat and chill out for a while in such a beautiful setting, Crowds of any sort are a bit annoying but I find worse when you understand what they are saying haha Great train ride and you managed to out distance the hoards going up to the castle. Amazing views though that queen looked a bit scary (Not the beautiful Jill ... who always looks fab 😋) That train platform was more scary than quite a few mountain edges ive stood on😯 'm loving this Italian trip ... definitely somewhere to keep up our sleeves 🤗🤗😎xx

Hi-ya, hahahahah first of all, I like your title... I guess you can identify Americans easily by their behavior, the way they speak and dress themselves.hahaha OMGoodness, the view of the lake and mountains in the background is like watching a painting. Huge lake...wow How came I see haze in the air??? Of course, there is no story without Pizza in Italy. How was the crust? Thin? crispy? crunchy? It seems heaven with Pizza and this view from the restaurant. Train ride reminds me of my childhood, taking public transportation to High School in the city. I like the seats look comfy. How long was the ride??? I guess 1 day excursion is enough for Varenna to explore? Your film convince us to visit Italy and I would love to.. Well done, Nick and Jill. The view of the lake is spectacular..it stays back of my head now.. You two stay healthy...ciao till next time.

Varenna looks like an awesome area. It's interesting how if you drive just a few minutes you can find a cheaper or better yet, free spot to park. The number of Americans really is shocking. Great tour of the area.

Beautiful views from the spikey thing . The food definitely looked bellisimo 🍕 cool backdrop, too . Cute train station was it graffiti in the tunnel 🤔 so many ques great views over the lake. Lovers walk cool to walk along huge love heart ❤️. Lots of bars & restaurants. Pretty busy too . Annoying walk 🤣🤣🤣 Long walk to the castle worth it cool views . Hi Nettie, yes it’s really been discovered now. We went to Varenna four years ago and did notice that it attracted a large number of American tourists but the balance was more 60% Italian 10% other parts of Europe 30% American. we could say without exaggeration now that it’s 99.8% American, 0.1% Australian and European, 0.1% Italian. its fine of course, probably the similar feeling an American would have when visiting Benidorm about us Brits. if your hoping to immerse yourself in Italian culture this is not the place to visit!

Hi Nick n Jill, got to have free parking cos 1.5 euro per hour is extortion. The pizza looked bob on and nice to be washed down with a beer or 2. I always tale public transport when away so great to see you taking the train. The views from castle were pretty awesome. It was worth visiting the castle just for those views. You certainly had super weather for them which always helps. The waiting for the train on the way back looked a bit dodgy. What happens if an express no stop train is running either side. I'm guessing that never happens but looks dicey enough as it is. Those damn Yanks and I bet they weren't hermit friendly 🙂Paul

Seems silly doesnt it? it costs £2 an hour to park in Scarborough town centre and there is nothing here! I shouldn’t grumble but I do like a cheeky free parking spot if one can be found! we definitely want to take public transport more when abroad. the hotel you picked seemed to have bus and rail links to all the very best places in Germany and Austria, that would be ideal for us. that platform was a bit sketchy, that train stopped but it felt like the flash had done a number on us all the platform! definitely not a hermit friendly place but had we done the Camino De Santiago path that leads through there all the way from the UK to Rome I bet we wouldn’t have seen a single sole! 👍

Great video Sir Nicholas and Dame Jill of the United State of Italy. Looked like a lot of fun. Epic pizza. I did the Lover's Walk at 8amish back in April and it was busy then. Bargain train fares. I'll be honest, I didn't want to hang around Varenna for too long either, as beautifulas it was there's just too many people! Enjoy those limoncellos guys!

I remember you being there first thing, it really has got insanely popular now. It was pretty popular four years ago when we visited but you could still have large sections of the walk to yourself and enjoy and soak in the romance of the views, not a chance now. this was a Monday in October so i would have thought it would have been pretty quiet. if they were all Italian tourists I’d have enjoyed the hustle/bustle of it all but to hear nothing but English every single second throws you right out of your holiday. Nobody to blame but ourselves I guess. if you visit the most touristy place you have to expect to share the experience with lots of other tourists. The Castle was lovely though, not many were making the effort to venture up. the hike that we should have took back to Bellano was along the Wayfarers Path, an extension of the Camino De Santiago Path, that is a Pilgrimage route from England to Rome. High up in the hills it’s renowned for its solitude and idyllic Chapels along the route. It’s well worth looking at. the part that runs alongside Como alone takes three days to walk!

I do find with places like that if you walk out of the city a little bit then you get away from the hordes fairly quickly. Ah yeah, the via Francigena (the Camino is the other pilgrim route), would love to hike it all, so many hikes so little time!

I'm shocked to see how crowded Varenna was in your video, I've been there a few times and there's only been a handful of people there! I've got photos of that walkway, now it seems it's called Lovers Walk with nobody on it! And the photos were taken in June/July as that's when I'm normally in Italy, it seems Varenna has been 'discovered' now. I did laugh when you wrote that the train message was the only Italian you heard all day, it was kind of an important message to have understood as it said there will be cancellations and substitutions of service due to works on the line, check at the ticket office.

Exactly Andy! it does make my blood boil. We need to re nationalise the train lines and subsidise the transport to encourage people to make the most of the network. if we are supposed to have green targets, encouraging people onto trains will be one of the fastest ways to meet them! the entire train was covered in graffiti! thats some really brazen Italian youth! We missed out on booking the return train fare for pretty much the price of the single as we were planning to walk back. I’m guessing it would cost billions to re nationalise the train lines but I bet it would be less than HS2! 👍

@@GENerationXplorers I know Corbyn wasn't a popular politician but his idea to renationalise the railway was to wait until the contracts for the networks came to an end and not renew them. That way they'd fall back into government ownership without expense to the taxpayer.
