Jatayu is a character from Hindu mythology and an important figure in the epic Ramayana. According to the epic, Jatayu was a vulture-like bird and a close friend of Lord Rama, the seventh avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu. Jatayu played a significant role in the story of Ramayana.
In the Ramayana, Jatayu encountered the demon king Ravana when he was abducting Rama's wife, Sita. Jatayu fought valiantly to rescue Sita and engaged in a fierce battle with Ravana. Despite being old and weakened, Jatayu put up a brave fight but was ultimately overpowered by Ravana. Jatayu was gravely injured, and Ravana left him for dead.
When Lord Rama and his brother Lakshmana arrived at the scene, they found Jatayu wounded. Jatayu informed them about Sita's abduction by Ravana before passing away. Lord Rama performed the last rites for Jatayu, honoring his bravery and loyalty.
Jatayu's role in the Ramayana symbolizes devotion, sacrifice, and loyalty. He is revered as a noble and selfless character who gave his life in the service of righteousness. Jatayu is considered a symbol of bravery and an inspiration for devotees. His story is often told to highlight the importance of righteousness, duty, and unwavering loyalty.
