Vascular compression syndromes are a category of various conditions that cause abnormal pressure in the blood vessels. These syndromes can happen in different parts of the body and cause a range of symptoms including weakness, swelling or mild to extreme pain. As a result, vascular compression syndromes are often difficult to detect and can be misdiagnosed. Surgeons at the University of Maryland Medical Center regularly see patients with vascular compressions and are experts at diagnosing and effectively treating these conditions.
