Hello, in the video we key in on the details of using fresh & clean color versus using whatever may be left on the palette from previous days or hours of painting. We also detail how to contour draw,... not an easy drawing technique but well worth learning as it creates a very pleasing rendering of subject matter. Please feel free to contact me on you tube or at chrispetri@att.net with any questions or special requests. You may also view my web site at chrispetri.com on a google search. A special thanks to fellow KZfaq creator Carmen Rodriguez who creates and produces all of my incredible introduction videos! Chris Petri That is very sweet of you to say, Thank you so much! The truth is, I am really struggling lately. I want so badly, to be able to paint in a very loose and spontaneous way. But, when I begin painting, I always end up tightening up, thinking I need to add every detail and make it more realistic, and look exactly like my reference. I end up completely frustrated and unhappy with my end results. Have you ever felt that way? Do you have any advice on how to loosen up? I would great appreciate and any ideas you have. I hope you and yours have a Safe, very beautiful Fourth of July, full of Love, Laughter, and Joy! Much Love and Respect, Stacy

Hi Stacy, this will work. Create 3 perhaps 5 x7 size paintings of the same exact scene/ subject matter. 1st painting you do almost no details, 2nd one just a few details and last one just paint it as you normally would..... do this exercise all at same day or number of hours,... say 2-3 hours.

Chris Petri Wow, thank you!!! What a terrific idea! I’m going to start right now. I really, really appreciate the awesome advice, thank you, thank you, thank you. Oh, I meant to ask you, have you tried the handmade watercolors yet? There are now a lot of small business owners selling them on Etsy and a few other places. I have absolutely fallen in love with them! And I think they would go so well with your beautiful style of painting. Thanks again for a quick, and very helpful response. Have a beautiful day.

Thanks for another great tutorial, Chris. P.s. your tutorials on loose watercolour using a limited palette really helped me to paint a recent line and wash outback town, which my brother-in-law really liked and placed in pride of place in their house! It gave me such a boost! Thanks.
