I went to this production in 1985 during my student years at Eastman. I was in NYC doing auditions and went to see Manon Lescaut at the Met. It was my first time in the Met. I'll never forget this aria because when Vasile hit that High B at the end it was like a laser beam, it completely lifted off, in fact, it was probably even better than this performance. I was in the very back row of the Family Circle up in the rafters and that note sounded like it was right in my ears. Incredible!

Impeccable vocal line coupled by a most solid vocal technique. A really underrated top-notch tenor.

That is a live performance ,never allowed him to sing relax in a recording studio !

VM is past his best here. His voice production was rather tight. That technique can produce a very vibrant tone, as it did for VM in his early career. But it's very hard on the larynx in the long run.
