That's how it would have been done in real life. No way would Vaughn have thrown the exact same pitch three times in a row - especially as he knew that Parkman was expecting it. No manager would have encouraged it, either - nor would have issued the intentional walk that he did.

back in this era it wasn't suuuper uncommon for hitters to hit with a no-ear flap helmet. Tim Raines i believe did. John Olerud i believe did as well.
