Vault 3 a control vault, so no callous or cruel experiment for the residents to endure, instead the survivors who escaped The Great War got to live their new lives below ground as if nothing had changed. And for many years, their children went to school, they celebrated birthdays, and replaced the workforce to continue the cycle. But one day a maintenance worker discovered a small leak, a minor inconvenience that changed everything. That leak, as insignificant as it was, was something they couldn’t fix because they didn’t have the required parts. So, as a result Vincent Vanmiller, The Chief of Maintenance, told The Overseer, Lincoln Davies, that while he was able to vent the pipes in that section to isolate the leak and stop the pressure from stressing the rest of the system, all he had done was buy them more time, as without the parts The Vault would eventually run out of water. Overseer Davies, now working on borrowed time, ordered for the water to be rationed until the leak could be repaired, which he assured the other dwellers would happen. But in order for it to happen they needed to open their vault door and go outside...

Ironically the fiends in the vault aren't much different from the original dwellers. They let you walk right in, all the way down to their leader, at which point you can blast him at point blank with a shotgun and shoot your way out through every one of the scumbags.

Dude, as a Dungeon Master can I just say you are the ABSOLUTE BEST. My players asked for a Fallout Campaign with the capability to span across the entire US Wasteland, and without you giving me all this lore, I wouldn't have been able to figure out 80% of making a nationwide Fallout TTRPG campaign.

This vault and the lore makes me so sad, it's one of the more depressing parts of lore of the Fallout series, reading the terminals and reading about their inhabitants and their day to day activities. It's really a tragic story, I make sure the Fiends pay every playthough I do. Great video! Thank you for the content.

Like the guy who shot and killed 4 black women who accidentally drove their car into a random guys driveway. He shot first , before asking questions. Shot first more than a few times to kill all 4 ,before truly assessing the situation first obviously. Now he's in jail where he belongs. And the cop who shot Justine Damond. She called the police about a disturbance near her house, she walked out to his car in her pyjamas, not armed. And he shot her. He's also now in jail where he belongs. Some people just arn't competent, or responsible enough to handle guns.

There's a reason people are inclined to not trust people of other races/countries its genetic hardwiring for thousands of years the human default is to enslave or subjugate those of other races, countries, or territories. @@themaddoctor1741 Nah, mister house does't have the robotpower to take over a vault full of hostile drug crazy fiends, he was just able to take vault 21 because the residents surrendered the vault to him. Even the NCR with experience in fighting raiders and a professional army are not able to take the vault.

I'm certain plenty of the people survived, fled, and integrated into New Vegas and the surrounding areas. The fiends are sloppy chem addicts that lack any real plan. I remember I found some vault 3 jumpsuits in Mickey and Ralphs room above their gun shop. It honestly explains a lot about their affinity for firearms. After vault 3 was lost they became obsessed with protection.

You have to be pretty naive to see a raider and not shoot on sight. Those gangs go out of their way to visually broadcast how dangerous they are. If I see some tweaker wearing a skull and armor made out of rusty metal sneaking around me brandishing a shot gun, the first thought on my mind will not be," Gee wiz, I wonder if he'd like to share this Fancy Lad snack cake with me".

@vendoth Exactly. Moral of the story is that peacefulness is valuable, but knowing how and when to defend yourself is vital to maintaining that peacefulness when others threaten it. And it's always a "when", not an "if".

This was a uniquely sad vault for me when I first encountered it. All of their terminal entries made them seem very kind and cordial. And the few parts of the vault that the raiders were locked out of are all very clean and neat. This contrasted with the shit smeared walls of the raider infested tunnels, drug addicts overdosed on the beds, and how the raider boss only treats what they did to the previous inhabitants as a meaningless side note made me feel sympathy for the vault dwellers.

For myself, I came to Vault 3 to avenge all who were killed in Vault 3. Me, Boone, and ED-E with guns killing Fiends left and right while Breaking Benjamins "Blow me away" plays in the background.

The need to make new generations inside vaults would eventually, very quickly actually, 100% of the time create inbreeding and quickly turn into a very serious problem. I find it fascinating that this is never spoken about in Fallout lore.

Probably due to the fact that they weren't intended to stay closed for multiple generations. They had good medical tech too, so its not like they had short lifespans. Obviously that was before they were turned into experiments but, yknow, is what it is.

If only that water leak never happened they’d still be alive, so I taught the fiends a lesson that vault 3 wasn’t their home and they weren’t allowed to stay they deserve to live in the wasteland because I know that they suffered a lot in the wasteland robbing settlements and caravans resorted to murder but they should have known better not to be come post apocalyptic bandits, and it’s like I once said people like the fiends deserve to die and people like vault 3 deserve survival including factions that are trying to rebuild and make the wasteland a safer place such as the desert rangers, the followers and the minutemen.
