This is a nice simple demonstration of a 6 month service on a 2011 Vauxhall Antara. In the video we change - oil, oil filter, air filter and a shot of redex.

I find jobs like this rewarding, knowing you've done some good on a car. An 11 plate Antara I still consider a 'new' car. Have subscribed.

Thanks for sharing this , I decided to look at our 'New Antara' and found the air filter and pollen filter to be just as bad as yours 🙄🙄🙄 and the reverse light wasn't working, even though it had Just passed a new mot . Fuel filters next and check the oil too . Subscribed now .

Great Video from up in Bonnie Scotland where my brother lives. What are your views on cleaning the EGR or blanking it off. I am finding it difficult down here in southern Spain to find a mechanic who will bother to clean the EGR valve and all they want to do it blank it off but I have heard this can have some problems further down the road. Mine is a a 2.0 Diesel Cosmo 150 Hp but pulls very sluggish for 150Hp. Am going to start with the air filter as I don't know if the old owner has changed this or not. Everything else I have done, Oil, oil filter, transmission fluids, timing belt kit etc. Thanks for any views you may have.

It could well be your air filter choking the engine due to build up of dirt. EGR is easy enough, however I have never done it on an Antara so I’m not sure how easy it is to get to the EGR but I’m sure you could find a video on KZfaq which will talk you through the process. My old Kangoo’s EGR was right beside the engine so was very easy to get to and only required taking out a few bolts and then I washed it in some diesel and dried it thoroughly. Good luck.

@@WildManFrizzell Hi. I changed the air filter which as you said has made quite a bit of difference and have located the EGR which at first look "seems" pretty easy to get at. Thing is this car has 180.000 Km's "112.000 Miles" and am thinking is the life span of this engine good enough to warrant too much messing around, many people say the Ecotec engine is pretty strong and others say it's weak. I reckon it should be good for another 100K if serviced regularly. Thanks for your reply. Greetings from Southern Spain.

If an engine is looked after then there is no limit to how long it’ll last. I know a guy that had an old Volvo run up to 1 million miles and because of that he got a special letter of appreciation from Volvo and an offer from them to buy it from him. I say get stuck in and do what you can to look after the engine because neglect only leads to failure.

Hi would you suggest changing the sump plug washer each time?

It’s definitely good practice to do so. I ended up changing the sump plug to a magnetic one and a new copper washer along with it. Copper washers are relatively cheap so changing one every time is the best idea.

What about the fuel filter? It is located under the hood or under the rear part of the chassis? You remember the dimensions of the cupper washer?

Fuel filter was way too expensive from my supplier and I didn’t have time to shop around

Just replaced mines £104 a pair and 27mm socket.

Hi the only thing I noticed was that you did not change the pollen filter, after 5 years I would think it was a good idea to do that at the same time . This is by no means a bad thing to do . P.S. I think that the drill for screws like on the air box is not a good idea you may go to far and end up with a lot of extra work to repair any damage you may do . Any way keep up the good work. 👍🏻😎👍🏻
