Replacing the Vauxhall Corsa 2010 Radiator temperature sensor, when you get the engine MIL (Emissions light) and the error code P00B3.
The sensor is a cheap replacement, parts are shown below on ebay:

Your video has sorted my P00B6 error. Sensor cost £16 (GSF) fix took 20 mins including watching the video. Old ‘O’ ring remained in radiator. Pushing new sensor in and pulling out (quickly blocking rad hole with finger!) pulled out old ‘O’ ring. Brilliant & clear video. Thank you.

Thx a lot Andy, especially for locating the sensor as Vauxhall ( Opel in Germany) varied it many times over the years. It'll help me a lot. The OBD fault code in my car appears as P00b4, which is related to that very sensor telling the CPU the coolant/engine is not heating up properly. Same part different problem. Swapping the sensors should fix it. Cheers from Hannover, Germany

I did this. Got the part for £8 from euro car parts. I’m not the best mechanic in the world but managed it and the engine lights come off and seems fine. The only problem I encountered was on the new sensor the rubber bung was bigger so didn’t fit properly so I ended up losing a lot of coolant. I ended up having to take the bung off the old one and put it into the new one. As of yet no problems though. Thanks !!!!!

Fixed my girlfriend's 2012 Corsa but the retaining clip was backward! I had to grab the clip from the other side of the plastic it rests against by wedging my pliers through a small (around the size of 4 fingers) rectangular hole next to the sensor and pulling it out while being very careful not to drop the damn thing.

My Corsa D year 2007 manufactured 1.4 l petrol does not seem to have any sensors on its radiator, been looking for it everywhere, it seems the fan relays rely on engine coolant temperature sensing and fan slow speed or high speed seems to come on randomly, not coming on when it should and car is severely overheating, loosing coolant from overflow escape from the filling bottle, have changed thermostat, replaced water pump, replaced bottle cap, but still not helped with overheating, have got coolant tested for any head gasket leakages, still test proved negative, internal heating does not work either, blows cold air all the time, no heating in winter, its full of gremlins, I suspect the heating control valve operated by electrical signals is jammed up, because when the engine is boiling hot the small size hoses leading to internal matrix remain cold to touch, even when the heating control is set to hot position. Can't seem to get to the bottom of it.

Hi mate, just came across your video whilst looking for a solution to my problem. My radiator fan doesn't come on at all and it's causing the engine to overheat. I have a 2014 Corsa. The fan does work as I tested that by hooking it up directly to the battery. I can't seem to find what's wrong as the fuses and relays aren't dead. The fan doesn't come on when I have the air con on either. Any ideas?

@junkendriven
@junkendriven 6 жыл бұрын
Could be a few things, I'd do a full service first, especially changing the spark plugs, I did that also recently to a car having stuttering and misfiring causing engine management to come on, they're cheap and easy to do, just take care taking the top 'cap' off as the rubber boots sometimes get stuck, if they do and they rip then you'll need to replace (As I had to as the rubber had perished)
@MrMintMouse
@MrMintMouse 6 жыл бұрын
Andy Brown appreciate the reply. The only thing I didn't mention before was that I was getting the p00B3 code from the title. Is the problem likely to lie somewhere else still? I was under the impression that my symptoms could be cause by a temperature sensor not playing nice. Would just be weird to get the code up and the issue being somewhere else?

You need the ecu codes checking first, there is another fault called poob4 which means the fab doesnt come on (p00b3 means fan on all the time) I would also check the rocker cover for sludge/mayo also the diaphragm in the rocker cover may be nackerd, new rocker and gasket on Ebay is 45 quid.

Hi Andy, When you clear the codes half way through the video, is it safe to turn the engine on while the new sensor is plugged in to the electrics but not into the coolant slot to see if the code still appears after clearing?
@junkendriven

Yes you should be fine doing that since you've got the electrical connector plugged in. You'll have to block the fitting though so you don't lose all the coolant!

Could a bad radiator temperature sensor be causing my radiator fan not to turn on? I checked the fan motor and fuses and all work
@junkendriven
@junkendriven 2 ай бұрын
It could, however normally the fan would fail to bring on constantly not off. Have you checked the fan relay? As that's common to fail after a while. You can also test by bypassing the relay to force the fan to get power, that way you'd know for sure the fan itself and wiring is working ok

My Corsa d 1.2 2010, I’ve bought this angled sensor as I’m getting a amber car with spanner showing and radiator fan running constantly, I took it for a drive and the engine temperature stays at a very low temperature 15c on my dash. Is there a another sensor on the water pump? It looks like my water pump is hidden with all the top plastic covering, I’ve read the other sensor is on the right side where the 2 rubber pipes from expansion tank goes into engine?

@@junkendriven I’m certain I’ve fixed my issue Andy, I was getting a amber car with spanner symbol on my dash staying on all the time and radiator fan constantly running, I noticed there was hot coolant going from the expansion tank into the engine but the pipe that comes back out ‘THROUGH’ the thermostat into the radiator was cold even when engine running and my temperature on my dash in the hidden options was staying the same, I changed my radiator temperature sensor that didn’t work but I replaced my thermostat and it’s fixed and hot coolant all around now and thermostat is opening and closing properly Tomorrow I’m gonna flush my coolant system, I’ve got 5l of de-ironised water to flush the system then new coolant

@@jamesmcrory8990 Great news James, glad you're sorted. That is exactly what happened in that second video of mine to the Corsa, it seems the thermostat on these fail CLOSED (unusual failure state!) and cause the issue with hot coolant backing into the expansion tank. Glad you're sorted, and yes I plan on flushing mine out soon too just as a precaution. I had to replace the expansion tank too due to a crack in it.

@junkendriven
@junkendriven 5 жыл бұрын
Hi 59700 and 59900 is the engine coolant thermostat heater control circuit. Search up on that, but it sounds like it has thrown a fault. If so you can try just replacing the thermostat heater itself rather than the whole thermostat housing as they are separated. Search for the thermostat. Location, it's at the front (bumper) left side of engine. I can't be 100% sure on it but from your description that sounds like the fault there.

@junkendriven
@junkendriven 2 жыл бұрын
Not sure if they're the same temperature sensor unfortunately, parts index for the corsa should help you on their part numbers, etc. If thermostats don't open then yes sounds like you have an issue with the signal coming from the ECU, so it's either the temperature sensors or the trigger wires from the ECU to your thermostat. Good luck

You should really only clear the code AFTER changing sensor
@junkendriven
@junkendriven 6 жыл бұрын
Normal practice is to clear it before making any changes, as you can get transient codes that are due to a sensor malfunction or one-off error, so clearing before confirms the fault is still there otherwise you may not know if the replacement part has corrected the fault code.
