Needed to replace a brake light bulb on my 79 year old mother's Meriva. First watched a KZfaq video by a mechanic with no explanations, just arrows overlaying the video, which wan't great. Then stumbled across this gem, done by a regular Joe which made perfect sense, was super easy to follow and helped me no end...many thanks 🙂

I have this code 16 on my meriva. My mechanic has changed the bulb, it’s working but the error code is still showing. Any ideas?

Sometimes on vauxhalls it's best to change both bulbs at the same time using same brand. Slight differences can throw up code in rare cases, also check the bulb is making a good clean connection.

My model with no spare wheel ,in the compartment there is a electric tyre pump and a puncture repair bottle, this has to be removed to access the 2 white spinners to remove the rear lamp unit. Its a bit tight to get out. Has yours a spare wheel?

Mines the Facelift model, and comes with tyre pump in the wheel well, I don't know why they moved it from the previous position. 👍

How to reset code 16? I changed the bulb it works but I see code 16 on display when I pressure the brake.

@@darekd6134 it also will illuminate if the connection is slightly lose or there is an anomaly between left and right brake bulbs. Some times it's good to change both bulbs at the same time and have a matching manufactured pair.

I have owned two 1.4 petrol Meriva B's and I have found them to be pretty reliable. They do have some common failures which are usually easy to rectify and have shown on my channel. Past ownership like regular oil changes is a must.

Not sure.. sometimes it's best to change both bulbs at the same time as different makes might have different resistance.

Sometimes it's corrosion and on rare occasions it could be the resistance in the bulb is different to the other side, so best to change in pairs.

Hi thanks for the great video . I bought a meriva on a 2015 plate yesterday and today whilst driving i got a code 16 wich I now know is the brake light however about a mile from home the code went off and all brake lights are now working. Do you think it's worth me changing the bulb or do you think it could be a different problem? Would be very grateful for your input... thanks.

It's more than likely the bulb failing or maybe a little corrosion. Best to have a look.

Do you mean the whole small light unit that is in the Tailgate?

@@willsy1409 I have had a quick look and it looks to me like there is only one bolt which you can see when you take of the access panel for the bulbs. Then I had a quick peek on eBay to look at pictures of the underside of the unit and it looks like it clips on at the leading edge of the tailgate. The one bolt I can see does look awkward to get at and you may have to take the whole trim off which can be difficult as the clips a very tight.
