Tried same lock repair with our Meriva but I had no success. Tried wd40 with no luck. Checked all wires running through the door apature and fitted new lock unit from Ebay ( not the cheapest one on offer but mid price range - 170 gbp ) but still no luck. Had same experience on both sides. First time round we returned the ebay parts and paid a garage 500 gbp to fit a different new lock and that worked and garage reported no other complications. Other side failed shortly after and we have no interest in paying 500 gbp for a few weeks of it working. Tried another lock from a different ebay trader, a large company from a proper warehouse, but the new part did not work. Again, checked every wire that ran through the door from the lock connection block to the block on the inside of the door pillar. All wires had good connection. Either there is some computer malfunction or I have been sold broken parts from the ebay dealers. I dont have a code reader but did try disconnecting the battery plus test drives. I understand this is a self clearing fault if the problem is repaiered and should not need reseting with diagnostic equipment... but maybe I am wrong on that. Car belongs to a family member and I have advised them to buy a Honda or Toyota.

Those weird doors . All that plastic inside the lock that should move smoother than metal , 4 microswitches . Locks have come a long way since the 90´s . Not for the better. Working on doors and drive shafts , two of my most disliked jobs. You made it work again Luis .

Thank for the video. I had My Meriva for 3 years and same thing happens every autumn and winter when is more humid. I use the car key to reset both rear door locks as it says in the manual. The chime goes off but unfortunately locks are still open and close during the driving. It's fine in the summer though.

The "rear lock" locks the doors ( so it can't be opened from the outside) but it can still be opened with the handle on the inside but the auto lock engages at 4kmph and then you can't pull the handle on the inside to open the suicide doors. To prevent them from being opened while driving.

Check the fuse!!!!!!! F15-F16 (5A) placed in BCM

very advanced these modern electronics/electrics .. you can stop them working just by doing nothing, .. I'm impressed, anyhow good diagnosis. A friend of mine has a Model T .. you just give it fuel and off it goes .. simple.

Maybe a better solution is just to snip the cable to that annoying alarm and put a piece of black tape over that light

I have the diagrams as well, and you skipped a few steps with getting the lock to hang out the door like that. The most annoying one is the rod that attaches the outside doorhandles to the lock. Wish you had shown that part so I didn't have to fumble as long. Once you know how to disconnect it, all of this is a piece of cake... for those gifted with the right hands and mind. How the hell are they charging €700-900 for both, if I can get them in ánd out within 1,5 hours each? I mean, I've never worked on cars before (im IT guy) and I don't even have all the fancy tools the shop has. The parts aren't made of (precious) metals, wish they were, then it wouldn't have gotten broken after 160kkm.

My meriva has this problem but only from Oct to march. In March all through to Oct it works fine. Ever heard of this?

Guys, it is so annoying. My second winter with this issue. Since locks are ridiculously expensive, I was thinking: perhaps auto lock can be disabled in software? And then, when you start, just press the lock button to lock all doors. Should be safe then? I know, it is better for safety to repair it or replace. I understand why there is alarm, but continuos beep is just made so you go to service and by expensive door lock. It could beep for a while and stop, right?

I have 2010 1.7 CDTi Diesel. Couple of days ago all the error came up abs, power steering, lock doors, ebrakes every thing lit up. Sent to garage he said bcm won't communicate its expensive fix. Got the car back today started it its working fine no errors drove for 2 hours not an issue at all. Later started it again all the issues are back and now power steering some time does work and some time won't car feel underpowered but if I let it Cool down and start again no errors after driving for a while all the errors come back. Any ideas?

I have the same car I can't find a way to turn off the auto locking it's adding a lot of ware to the motor's and it's just annoying I've now got a strange folt all doors auto lock at 2mph and with dash button but when locking with the key button the passenger door doesn't lock
