It was never mentioned it was engine dependent, I think it was explained it was based on incoming air. Which changed slightly due to idle. Not sure where your issue is here.

Well firstly I’d try cleaning it, but there’s lots of reasons your car is surging, could be a vacuum leak , could be egr. Try unplugging the sensor to see if there’s any change, in performance. Do a pedal test, to see if there’s any related codes.

Check connections, make sure there’s supply to the sensor. Very much sounds like there’s a sensor issue.

I’d be tempted to get another connector from the scrapyard and crimp it or solder it. Depends on your ability.

If that’s the only code you’re getting, I suspect it will be that, clean the connector and the sensor. Probably worth changing it out. Can you access live data? See what temperature it’s reading?

Probably the selonoid or wiring issue. Check connections and wiring integrity.

1.6 petrol 2008

Have you done a pedal test, may give you an indication, possibly an egr issue or vacuum leak. The fact you clean the throttle body and it improved it , even though that’s a high idle. I suspect it’s something around that area. Do a pedal test first though.

Did you erase the code . Is there a leak in the duct, have you tested the wiring? It has a 5volt biased reading. If you disconnect it , it and bridge the wires, there will be 5 volts.

Check behind the head, under the wiring loom.

Egr fault , probably needs a good clean. Egrs are a huge issue on Zafira’s

@@jojojojo3416 it may need cleaning internally, some people cap them off and remap. Could be other reasons like ecu, wiring, could be a faulty egr. Lots to think about.

You have to take into account of all the variables of heat and where it’s coming from. The car will always be hotter than ambient temp. I suppose when the car is cold and no additional heat, it would read the same as outside. Live data is always important from cold to hot, to verify its reading accurate from cold to hot.

No this is not engine dependent; it measures the temp off the air coming into the system from the front of the car via the air intake ducting..

@rainerrieck6596 yes, it read the outside temp and as the engine warms up , the air would be slightly warmer, around the bay at idle, but would probably cool when driven. Great bit of kit which would affect fuel trim. MAF sensor would be more efficient than these.

You can try replacing it, are you having symptoms, poor running etc. You should get some live data. Check connection and wiring also.

No not dusty here. It can throw a code on damp days or dry. Filter pretty new also. Think i"ll get a spare sensor incase it does fail. The car drives fine though when it trips an engine light. Thanks for the reply.@@drivewaydiyer6504

@davidjohnrobinson2887 sounds like it needs replacing. Could be breaking down and any contaminants is affecting it, more often.

I have the same, Zafira B 1.6 petrol Life (I believe 2nd to lowest trim edition). 58 plate, runs ok but idling a little off, changing the Oxygen Sensor today, hopefully that will fix it, never been changed. 1.6 petrol, sometimes we have the 2 seats up at the back too, great for family and the best thing about it is no ULEZ.

Do a pedal test, see what codes are stored.

If there’s no codes it may not be an issue with the sensor. Might be worth clean the the throttle body, with some carb cleaner. The valve can get a bit sticky and choked up. Try that first. Check air filters and plugs too.

This code is for disparity in what sensor is reading and what is being read at the manifold. Might he worth checking for air leaks. Get some live data on the sensor, to make sure it’s reading correctly. You don’t want to swap it out if it’s reading ok.

Look for a vacuum leak, you may even have an egr problem. It’s running lean, so it’s getting too much air. Look around throttle body, air intake etc splits, broken pipes etc

@@drivewaydiyer6504 Thank you. I have poor performance especially around 2000 rpm, then blows out. Map, sparks, ignition module and complete exhaust system already changed. Became better but not perfect. Error code was 0170(fuel trim) but since exhaust system change it doesn't exist. What do you think maybe oxigen sensor? Today i ordered a new air intake sensor i hope it will solve my problem, 2 oxigen sensors would be expensive.

I think the next step, is to get some live data, on your fuel trim and see if it’s rich or lean. The fact that you changed your exhaust and it improved. Perhaps try some cataclean. EGR valves are a huge problem on these models. They get gummed up. Check for air leaks aswell, clean the throttle body, could be sticky. But live data will be your next step.
