The engine layout was obviously designed with ease of maintenance in mind, with only two wheels needing to be removed to change the oil. Hats off to Vauxhall !

funny this video should just appear lol. done the wifes 1.6 diesel c3 Picasso, but did all air pollen oil fuel filters plus change oil. as our filters are all accessible from the top of the engine bay, I used a newly purchased vacuum extraction pump and got it through the dipstick tube. took a few pumps and patience but saved messing around with the undertray. I also used it to pull the diesel through the filter, made priming it a doddle.

you are the 1st person that i know of, that hasn't stripped the sump plug on a Vauxhall, My mate pal has stripped the plug on all 3 of his Vauxhalls, one needed a new sump.

My wife's astra j petrol was serviced by vauxhall main dealer for first three years, the sump plug uses a torx bit and was completely rounded out! Managed to hammer a larger torx bit into it for removal and then replaced with a gold plug magnetic sump plug which has a nice big hex head.

Hey Martin, good video. I have a Vauxhall Vectra C with a 1.9 CDTI 120 BHP engine, the exact same as on this Zafira B. I found it easier to change the oil filter after undoing the front downpipe from the manifold . The Zafira looked a bit easier than on the Vectra

Great vid Martin 👍it's always a pain when someone's been there before and over tightened the sump plug but at least you got it out without rounding off, snaping or sump damage top job

The sump plug on our Zafira B was also done up very tightly. It would seem that Vauxhall dealers do them up with impact wrenches or something - had to use a very long pole to undo it. Silly dealers - did the same with our wheel nuts. (Tightened up to over 200Nm! 🙄 )

I Bought 20 litres of the same oil 4 years ago and I’m on my last oil change this year it was going at 32 quid at erocar parts at the time Thay was haveing a Clear out sale it’s good oil iv never had a problem with it

You should try an extending ratchet it is really good for tight situations like that oil sump

I don't know why some people overtighten the sump plug.

Awesome vid Martin, Did this car not have the inspection flap on your undertray? If I can remember it was 4 screws and then it should hinge down on tape. If you can get the car up 30cm it should be do able to swing the flap around. Awesome vids mate.

Must be oil change day today, I just did my kia pro ceed diesel 2012 1.6crdi. The filter nut is 27mm and the sump nut 17 for anyone doing theirs. Had to go to halfrauds to get a 27mm socket as I have every other size except 27.....☹☹ the Kia uses 5.3 litres of oil which is a pain when they come in 5ltr cans. The diesel filter is buried against the bulkhead aswell. Also car is too low for ramps......

I would not buy a zafira b purely based on the hassle involved in an oil change. It should not be that difficult.

What a ball ache, half an hours work before the oil is drained out. Vauxhall petrols much easier. Great video tho 👍🏼

That part where you put the hose on the oil filter housing, that is leaking oil quite bad on mine. Any ideas? Cheers

What a pain to do! Although the Izuzu based 1.7 CDTi on the Astra has the oil filter in a more sensible place ( top of engine at the back) it is pointing upwards so when you change the element dirt can fall in! Terrible piece of design. Also I don't know why they dropped spin on filters.

what a shit design putting the oil filter housing there -friggen fiat eh lol- worth leaving the undertray off before it rots your subframe mart(holds water against the body) ..if sump plugs really tight try a 6 sided half inch imperial hex socket.
