Vauxhall Zafira EGR valve replacement

I replaced the EGR valve on my Zafira and it stopped it from stalling. I then dropped the oil, replaced the oil filter and spark plugs. Topped up with new oil and coolant and it now sounds like a new car. You can also check the brake fluid is up to the line and check that the inside of the wheels (from under the car) are dry (which means no brake fluid leaking). These easy-enough service procedures every 10K miles or so should keep your car in good health for a while.

I have a 1.6 52 zafira. when I let off the accelerator in 5 or 4 around 60mph it starts to kangaroo. if I put the power back on its OK . If the revs drop tho it's stalls an I have to tern it off an back on an it's fine for a wile but you can bet that it will do it again when you least want it to. I've changed sparks , fuel filter , cleaned throttle body , air filter ..... Now I'm going to try this hope it work as I like the car but getting pissed off with it now 😡

Maybe check your pre and post exhaust sensors, one in the engine and one in the exhaust under the car. They feed information up so that the car can manage how it burns fuel. Then there is also the CAT (catalytic converter), placed after the manifold and before the exhaust travels out under the car. could this have anything to do with causing smoke under acceleration?

Many things can cause smoke. Under acceleration narrows it down a bit. Check your pre and post exhaust sensors, one in the engine and one in the exhaust under the car. They feed information up so that the car can manage how it burns fuel. Then there is also the CAT (catalytic converter), placed after the manifold and before the exhaust travels out under the car. This may need changing.

I just been to the garage and been told I need a new one of these for £85. seen one on ebay. the mechanic said I would need to reset the computer or something? :/

Yeah...Well, you can try starting there. After this video the problem came back and ended up replacing the whole exhaust (which is pretty easy if you have a lift or a pit - all on rubber mounts) Re the computer, sometimes just disconnecting the battery overnight does it but every car has its own thing..

Does Astra G 2003 have PCV valve. I can't Find it!?.

Well..Just check your inlet manifold to see if there's a rubber pipe coming out that you can follow... ;) - If it is internal combustion (which it is) it should have a PCV valve somewhere..

@@sebasmorgan Hello Seb. Fantastic I thought because my daughters 04 plate Zafira 1.6 EcoTec has all the symptoms you describe….but….the egr valve is not there as in your video !! There’s a triangular sort of unit there , but no electrical leads, so whatever it is, I don’t think it’s the valve. I’m waiting for a Haynes manual but it’s in the post. In the meantime a headsup would be appreciated. Thanks.

@@californiadreamin8423 Hi mate, you probably have a blanking plate in.. (just a triangular plate with 2 holes in it) - Some people take the EGR out all together and put a plate in its place... Maybe you should check your pre and post CAT sensors.. They are quite easy to find and replace, if faulty... If they're not working properly you will get weird idling and bad emission tests...Hope you sort it out, mate

@@sebasmorgan Thanks and double thanks. After a bit I realised it’s blanked off. It’s original as I can’t find any taped back wiring. I also thought it fuel injection, but I think it has a carb ? Rain and bad light have stopped play !!
