My third birth was a VBAC home birth. I asked my OB from previous pregnancies how they felt about me doing a VBAC and he was very honest and said he wasn't comfortable with it. So that made up my mind to definitely not go with him. At the time, 2010, I knew in our smaller area, VBAC wouldn't be a very likely option at any of the facilities. I decided to do a VBAC at home as I was able to find a midwife that felt TOTALLY comfortable and confident in my ability to vaginally birth my baby. So now, 12 years later, I am going to succeed at my 2nd VBAC home birth, at any time now! Due in 2 weeks :) ! Thank you for the information in your class and this video!

Great video! Thank you! My experience is not encouraging so far. I am leaving near Toronto and I've been reaching out to midwives since my 6th week, today I am on 22d and I still heard nothing positive from them, they all are booked, I am in their waiting lists. Doulas I've spoken to are also extremely unexperienced in VBACs. At the same time I've found out about the hospital's policies and have any chance to doubt they will let me get a mild VBAC try. When finding out I am going to deliver at home unassisted my family doctor wrote to me that she "surely do NOT want to see (my) deliver unattended at home". Me neither. But, at least at this point, I can see no other possibilities. If not a single one medical professional with a license is willing to help, what else am I to do?..

I had to switch drs at 30 weeks. I told my first midwife I wanted a vbac. She said I “could try” I didn’t realize that’s such a big red flag. At my 28 week appt she mentioned a c section again and told me she didn’t think I could do it (vbac) yeah I wasted so much time with her. I found an amazing midwife and everybody in the practice is vbac supportive. My midwife now actually wants me to have one. I’m due in 5 weeks so we shall see :)

@@tait263 repeat c section. My husband has been on a work project about eight hours away, my only childcare had jury duty the whole week and a half after my due date and I was just extremely stressed. So I told them just go ahead with the C-section. It was very calm and the recovery was not bad at all. But when she was born she had pooped inside so I’m glad I went through with the C-section because she hadn’t inhaled it at that point. Just makes me wonder if I had went through labor how that situation could have turned out because she was stressed out.

Would u say that a pro gentle birth doctor is a pro vbac doctor as well?

Maybe. Often the hospital policy dictates whether the doctor is supportive of VBACs or not.

I plan on having a vbac and my Dr said it was my choice but that really didn't help me with my decision when I went in to labor.. my blood pressure was high and hers were low and I'm not sure if she was stuck or not but I did try to push her out but nothing happened what would you Suggest...should I try a vbac or just go for another c-section I'm so Terrified of having a uterus eruption and how can I be Confident I won't have one

Do you have the option of finding another Dr or switching to a midwife? I think a supportive provider would be a huge help.

Red flags started waving when, at my 20 week appointment, my OB - who had had a vbac herself - started talking about how I was going to have a ‘big baby’. Really?? At 20 weeks?? I started asking a lot of questions, and discovered that both she and the hospital required continuous external fetal monitoring for vbacs. I knew there was no way I would be successful under those conditions; I had continuous external fetal monitoring with my first birth (I labored for 8 hours knowing I was having a c/s for breech, so I could get some medication out of my system so I wouldn’t have to have general anesthesia). It was awful - I’m a larger person, and every time I moved, the monitor would lose the baby’s heartbeat. I wound up leaving that practice and finding a phenomenal midwife (CNM) and had an hbac. Best decision ever.

I had a c section 8 months ago, I've just found out im pregnant with my second, I really want to hVe a vbac. I was taken in to be induced at 40+1 with my son and was taken for a emergency csection after failed induction and babys heart rate dropping due to the induction. I'll be roughly having my second baby at about 16 months after a c section. What do you suggest is best for me? I desperately want a natural birth... im so scared of uterine rupture. Im craving the empowerment of giving birth naturally

Top suggestion is to interview providers (OB or midwife) to find out your options. There is such a range for what they will support and you want to ask all of your questions as soon as you can.
