VDJ 8.4/2020 natively supports hundreds of DJ controllers
But you can also map your own, which is explained in this video

very good video. informative and easy to understand. thanks for being so down to earth explaining. Your oxygen pads, are they rgb leds?? I ask as I try to do the same with my Novation Launchkey 49 mk2 or 3, forgot name, mapping it to control part of VDJ..but I tried to find information on the net how to even activate the RGB led buttons..reading the forum of VDJ sounds very complicated and since I am total newbie I have no clue what to do except I found something called "pad_button_color" but have no idea how to make that work. would be nice if you have any idea.

Hi. Do you need the full version to do this ? I've tried with my oxygen 61 and it doesn't work. The mapping is OK but nothing moves in the software.

You probably need a license for it to work for more than a few (10?) minutes. The big difference between the free and the paid version is that you can't use controllers with the free version

Hi Klaus! Thank you so much for the tutorial. I am using the Oxygen 49 of the same generation as your controller. How do I map the other deck once done with one side? I tried but the sliders assigned to deck 2 will still control deck 1.

Nevermind. I figured it out. I didn't specify which deck in the "Action" box.

@@shaggydude1226 type 'deck 1' to assign action to deck 1. example, to play /pause deck 1, type "deck 1 play_pause"

@@royferdinand2884 The deck is assigned to automatic or default? and if I put deck1 level is not working, can you tell me how I assign the two volumes to my controller?

The DDJ-1000 is already fully mapped in VDJ, so there is no need

@@DrivenUnder1000 Oh, then yes. Simply copy the script from the SZ mapping to the DDJ-1000 mapping You can see mapping for all controllers in VDJ even if they are not connected by selecting to view all compatible controllers in the drop down Also notice that once you make the smallest change in a mapping and save it, an XML file with the mapping is created in \Documents\VirtualDJ\Mappers So what you can do is make a small change in both mappings (maybe just add a space that does nothing), and then look at ,copy from and maybe even edit directly in the xml files using a text editor like for instance notepad++ - that can give you a better overview and faster editing

Really liking the tutorial -- just have a question on assigning variables and mapping both decks 1 and 2. Please advise if needed and can compensate you for the instructions

The default is to apply everything to the currently active deck. That's probably fine for most if it, like key play For the things you want to splut, you can select more buttons/knobs, and then put "deck 1" or "deck 2" in front of the scripts If you want to apply a script to all decks, you can put "deck all" in front of it

Thanks, great video! Can i map a midi controller (i use Korg nanokontrol2) while using a dj consolle (Hercules dj control air)? Can virtual dj read both controllers?

Yes. certainly I use my Korg nanokontrol2 with my DDJ-SR when live streaming. I then use the nanokontrol2 to trigger sound bits (samples) like dj name, theme of todays show, general hype statements and so om. The DDJ-SR is then used for the actual DJing

@@klausmogensen8691 Amazing, thanks! I'm still trying to map the nanokontrol2. I want ti use the knobs and sliders to control the filter of the decks...still trying ahaha

@@accountcreatoperidownload7321 Sorry - I misinformed you. Mine is a nanoPAD2 So it's really just buttons on (which is great for sample triggering) But the principle is the same If you have a slider that is "center=0" on the unit, then try simply mapping it to: filter That will then also work for sound color fx and vocal stems isolation/removal, depending on what you select as current filter effect

@@klausmogensen8691 Thank you for your support. Unfortunately i'm having some problem with the mapping. Virtual Dj doesn't "read" the mapping. I'm trying to map a Novation Impulse 25 following your video, but even the play/stop buttons doesn't work.

I'm able to configure everything I would like and all sliders and buttons come up but when I save and try it my controller just doesn't respond? Same for my buddy. I have an Arturia k61

Could it be something as simple as file rights? So that your OS doesn't let you save the file?
