I’m a retired old fart. When I finally got into guns a little over four years ago, (thanks to my son finally convincing me to go with him to the range), all of my optics were budget red dots of one kind or another. More recently, (as my vision has deteriorated), I’ve been upgrading. My best rifle, a Colt AR-15, had a red dot with a separate magnifier that could flip out of the way. I replaced that with a Trijicon ACOG. I replaced the red dots on my AK and my Bullpup with LPVO’s. I’ve avoided upgraded optics that require a battery to function. I feel battery power is fine, but the optic should still offer a fully functional reticle should the battery fail. My LPVO’s meet this requirement and the ACOG, of course, requires no batter at all. I’ve never put optics, other than upgrading sights which really doesn’t qualify, on my handguns. Most of my other firearms aren’t conducive to adding optics - like the Henry Big Boy. The only rifle I have left with a red dot is my little SUB2k. (MCARBO) I stuck a little 45 degree offset mount on it and stuck a little budget reflex red dot meant for a pistol on that. I will likely be replacing that because the little red dot had become more of a lopsided starry circle. I want to blame that on astigmatism except I don’t have that issue with my other optics. I’ll still likely go with a budget optic for the little PCC though. Some people say that what you spend on your optic should be equivocal to the cost of the firearm. I don’t quite agree with that. A high quality firearm deserves a high quality optic, but often a budget optic works just fine until you have a fatter wallet. The main thing I’ve always taken into consideration is parallax. When feasible, I like to be able to co-witness as well which you can obviously do here. I’m this close to buying a Canik META MC9. I’m waffling on whether to go with an optic on it or not. We’ll see what’s available and check pricing at the gun show next weekend.🙂 Great torture test. Never having put an optic on a pistol I would think it would be enough torture just having that slide bang back and forth. You certainly took it a step further. My takeaway is that if you can afford a high quality optic then go for it, but if on a budget, your test proved that there are serviceable optics out there until you can afford to upgrade.

will do@@FitnFire Guess I'll take back what I said about that little reflex on the SUB2k. It's my eyes. Took out some old red dots to compare and I get the same effect. Nothing wrong with that little reflex optic which happens to be a Sight Mark Mini Shot - made it my great home State of Texas. Time for some new glasses. Apologies to Sight Mark. 100,000 hour battery life. It's got to be near EOL. i bought it September 2019. (Paid $190 for the thing, but it's cheaper now.)

I used 3 of their red dot.. a small one the 1x17 .. then two 1x20x28 on two different gun.. and now the same on a dovetail plate on to a glock19 .. thay do work well and they retain zero no problem

@@FitnFire i used both mos system and dovetail plates for red dot on guns.. at the end of the day both the system works well (in idpa or sport at the range) one is only ugly than the other .. but you can use it anyway.. Take care

now i've got it on a optic ready canik.. the system is sturdier than the dovetail plate.. and reliable for ccw..

SIG M18 commercial version came stock with Delta Pro footprint. But I think vector optics make RMSc and RMR compatible footprints.

Got a Frenzy-S, seemed a pretty good beginner red dot for Hellcat. But zero was not constant, needed to tighten screws few times. And finally after ~400 rounds, glass fell off the casing completely. Disappointing. But now they've released gen2 version which looks like shield's rmsc, tempting to try this one as well.

At around 5:15 into the video,you didn’t have one in the chamber. Man,you really have a nice way of letting that gun do what it’s supposed to do. Smooth. GP?

Yiu can zeroid that without using ammo.. remove the firing pin use the bore sigth same time calibrate the red dot to one place according to your bore sigth

Sooo mine just failed yesterday. 91 degrees Fahrenheit outside I think may have been it’s kryptonite. I have to investigate further but it looks like the lense is glued in. The bottom of the glass popped out of the front after about 200 rounds shot over the course of about a year. Pushed the glass back in place and the dot was still there. It was mounted on a 9mm.

Which optic was it, the same as the one in the video? Vector has a couple dots with lifetime warranty, I wonder how receptive they are to replacements

I’m asking a little too early.thought you had the new x caliber .because I’m splurging on looking at gun stuff right now. Been trying to do more reading. Think most ppl watching need another gun like a hole in the head. Not a good place for that analogy but you know what I mean. Do you happen to have the mk 12 & 23 (I believe it is?)any preference? Dk about where you live,but, I’m more likely to see big foot than any GP in mt one horse town, and I think im digging the bull barrel. W the cool flutes and all. I’m not the gamer kid that says “im getting one of those “on every cool gun video. I want a Excalibur and a nice shoulder holster & a k6s (both earlier models.. I think.?.)in a R grizzle GS2 & that’s about it. For about a year .if you see this,lmk about what you think between bull & AK ish competition mk 23. I don’t compete. The recoil anticipation that most of the gun guys are pushing down against when they hit a empty/dud is a little much. Seems like a horrible habit. I TRY my best to shoot like you. Smoooth. Most dots anymore are fine. Options aside from others. The omiters in these dots are coming out of the same factories in China. Your Vortex and Primary Arms dots share the same as most knocknoffs. If the goal is to have a dot that turns on and turns off. Has a bright dot and has clear glass then most cheaper dots will be just fine. I'm sorry but dropping the dot off a 10 foot ladder or dragging it behind a truck on a dirt road is not real world. 90+ % of users are not going to be "Internet operators" who purposely try and destroy gear.

LMAO…yeah. I was running off memory on the ranges. You’ll notice the rounds at the 25 yard target were more like 1&2 inches instead of 2&3 inches. 🤣🤷🏼‍♂️

He doesn't know about the adjustments ..only if there was some info in a box sold with it lol..there are by the way and pdf but there better optics out now under this price .. Cyelee cat and CVlife wolfcovert ..own both and really shocked with the CVlife new stuff .. Importyetti now lets us see that those and some others are made in the same place as PA 150$ stuff and Sig 200$ optics ..so just a heads up
