After many questions from many platforms about all my ingredients and where to find them, I compiled this vegan Asian grocery haul with a lot of chit chat about noodles.

So I finally bought the mushroom broth and holy smokes! I don’t know why I waited this many years to go find it. I made a delicious lentil soup and I’m mind blown.

I buy a bag of Asian dried mushrooms and blend them into a powder, done! No additions, pure and safe , so simple!

Another viewer does that (and added dried garlic and shallots) and it does taste good but I really like the depth of the mushroom powder :)

The Girl Who Speaks that's what I do! It's too expensive to buy mushroom powder when you can buy the mushrooms I get shiitake and grind them up. :-)

Thanks Donna! I'll love eating out at Toronto vegan restaurants but I find the lighting is kind of rough for me to film. I'll try to incorporate more restaurant stuff in the future, in the meantime, you can see a lot of of restaurant food in my What I Ate In A Day videos and Lisa Goes Outside videos :)

Thank you for this video! I am vegan and have been looking for a mushroom broth for a while now! No place near me sells any. I did get some at a store an hour from my home. Liquid mushroom broth. Since then, I checked on amazon and I guess I didn't enter the correct search words because this stuff did not come up. I did however find some mushroom broth cubes that shipped from overseas. It was good but not many cubes and took a long time to get here. I found the second mushroom powder you showed on amazon and it will be here in 2 days! WOOT! I am so happy I finally found something to season my stuff with. I do buy veggie broth but I LOVE mushroom taste.

real quick science lesson on MSG, and why you shouldn't be afraid of it. MSG stands for mono sodium gludamate. The mono sodium part means one sodium, and sodium is 1 of the 2 elements in salt, your body needs some of it, but most people get enough salt. gludamate apart form making things tastes better, its also a neurotransmitter that helps with memory. gludamate also comes from alot of common foods like potatoes and seaweed. if it gives you a headache, or makes you feel sick just dont eat it , but if you dont get sick from it its not a thing that will negatively impact your life and give you cancer.

Lemongrass has been tough to find right away in Cali. But i found it in stores with large produce sections like Stater Bros and Jons.

I only have Super H Marts near me and it's so hard to find mushroom powder without MSG at them so I just use what I can find. I agree with the produce! Veggies also tend to be cheaper at Asian grocery stores.

Thanks! Yeah, eventually knowing what kind of noodles to use is similar to knowing what kind of bread to use. Sandwich bread vs baguette, whole wheat, rye, sourdough, etc.

Wait, no Earth Balance cheese nibs in Canada???? And you guys are right, there are so many more cool things/shops in the US. I live in Virginia and I am from North Bay, Ontario. I have been recently thinking of moving back to Canada and want to live somewhere in TO/GTO. But I don't know how I will do without some of stores here, like Target! And Wegmans, Wholefoods, Trader Joe's..... (I can't go to Wholefoods or Trader Joe all the time cause they are about 55 mins away from me but I do make the trip once in a while)

This is so helpful! I can't wait to try out these new fun treats! On a different note, I've been looking for Canadian companies that sell vegan shoes, and I'm not finding too much. Specifically sandals, and I'm debating the Mayari Birks just because I can't find any basic vegan sandals. If you have any tips, please let me know :)

I haven't bought any new sandals except for some havaianas that I got a couple years ago. You could try getting some vegan sandals from places like Payless or Spring? Most of their shoes are made with synthetic materials, and you can always check the sticker to see what materials they're made out of. I've *heard* that there are vegan birks (not the ugly plastic ones) and I haven't been able to find any. But I really really really want them because birkenstocks were my favourite sandals until I went vegan (I actually still have a pair that I've had since grade 9... O_O). The TVA has a post about vegan shoes you might have some luck with: veg.ca/2012/04/13/vegan-shoes-boots-and-leather-alternatives/

ha ha nice! I had some birks that lasted for a long time too. These Mayari Birks seem to be vegan according to the website: mybirkenstockshop.ca/Product--Cobalt-en-605-1.php But I'll definitely try out places like Payless and Spring like you mentioned, and I'll check the labels. That TVA post is sweet!! Definitely helpful.

Not fluently. I really only ever speak it when I'm with my family, and I can read and write really slowly haha. It's been so long since I've been back to Vietnam so I'm out of practice and my accent is garbage now haha
