@@julienfroidevaux1143Idk if I understand your idea of what constitutes a know it all. Maybe it’s because when he talks about a subject, he tends to actually have a handle on the material before he opens his mouth? He doesn’t really venture much outside his fields of research. I wouldn’t call him a “know it all” for it. He comes across as someone who just doesn’t open their mouth unless they have an answer that they can explain in great detail.

Working at a health food store (Meat dept.), the consensus I take away from the majority of Vegans I've encountered is that it is more of an animal treatment/rights issue to them than a dietary health issue. The perplexing thing to me is that in the wild, animal predators are incredibly brutal and merciless to their prey.

When confronted by a vegetarian/vegan about raising and killing my own meat, I ask them if they have ever seen how a carnivore treats it's prey. Then I tell them when they have convinced all the predators to treat their prey "humanely" and to eat more carbs, then they might have a leg to stand on. I have a steer going to the butcher next month. He has had a great life running around with my goats. He gets chin rubs and neck scratches. He loves it. When his day comes, he won't know what hits him.

How do you know it was MS and not Subacute Combined Degeneration (from vitamin B12 deficiency, etc)? What were your symptoms? Just interested because I've heard of people who've reported reversing MS with carnivore, particularly raw carnivore. MS and SCD are pretty similar. It makes me wonder if there is even any such thing as MS, and it's all just nutritionally related.

So true for many if us, our parents grew up with rationing. Meat was a treat during thier chikdhood and again during WW2. So we did not waste meat. Even our once a year turkey (carcass) was turned into soup after Thanksgiving. Funny, my Dad was diagnosed with diabetes at 42 and Mom reminded us not to eat sugar all the time. All 10 of us kids had/have with diabetes. She was right about sugar but now we know so much more. Wish my siblings would listen.

Dr. Berry, you hit the nail on the head. Vegan diet is the diet people gravitate to when trying to be healthier until they find out it makes them ill and then the real diet research happens. @@GaryHighFruit It is one thing to express your pleasure and success as a vegan, fine. It is another to criticize someone else's experience and tell them to get their head out of a hole. Tacky on either side just makes that person look less credible. The valid point is that many people, over time, find they need meat to feel good again. I myself had people I knew, him and her yoga instructors and her also a massage therapist. She got quite ill until she added back meat. She made point of telling me this as I knew them before as vegans and she was warning me. I am happy you found what works for you. Some day we will discover why some people seem to do well as vegans and others don't. I suspect it has to do with the microbiome. Wishing you well.

I also was vegan for around 2 years, from 2017 to little over 2019. When I was a teen I had anorexia but my relationship with food was at it's worst when I was a vegan 20 y old, to say the least. The sugar cravings were so bad I had started binge eating for the first time in my life. The brain fog so bad I struggled with simple things, so I took a blood test.. Turned out I had b12 and iron deficiencies despite taking a vegan targeted multivitamin that was supposed to be enough according to the bottle. I felt so betrayed by the people that were advertising how taking vitamins would be enough and how you don't need animal products.. It became clear to me that if I want to live I have to eat animal products, which was devastating to me. Genuinely thought about the other option of "un-living" too, that's how brainwashed by veganism I was, I believed animals deserved to exist more than I did. Morally I still don't enjoy it but it's a choice I make to keep living.

i was whole foods plant based before, now im carnivore. less animals die for my carnivore diet. when i was whole foods plant based, i had to eat around 2kg(4.4 pounds) worth of food in a day, and still had to take supplements. how many animals would have to die all for that? lots of animals die and are displaced from their habitats thanks to large scale plant agriculture. lots of agrochemicals would also be used which harm animals and peopIe. they say that a single cow can feed an entire family for a year. but what if a family is vegan? how much food and supplements would they need just to stay barely alive? how many animals would have to die for all of that toxic, nutrient poor vegan food and industrially produced supplements shipped from across continents? now, i just eat meat. around 1 or 2 pounds in a day. the meat is locally produced in my country. they dont have to be shipped from across continents. the animals i eat give me lots of nutrients. i dont need supplements at all! my health improved so much that now i almost feel superhuman. i feel faster, stronger and smarter than even back when i was in my teens. life also seems happier now for some reason. i cant explain it, but.. i just feel happy and motivated in life! im no longer naive to think that i can live without taking life. now i just value and celebrate the fact that i can eat meat and survive. i make sure that the life i take is not wasted

I’m so proud of you with your recovery and excellent choices. I was a vegetarian and then vegan for a couple years and developed migraines and terrible joint pain. I kept researching diets with the aim of tackling my migraine problem as I heard about trigger foods. Over time I’ve discovered that nearly every food except meat and eggs and dairy (except for cheese) trigger inflammation and thus pain for me. I’m also recovering from various eating disorders as well and carnivore really helps with that as sugar is such a problem for me triggering my desire to binge and purge and restrict as well. I was vegan for mainly ethical reasons as well and resisted eating animals but when you think about it, most animals eat other animals. Would we deny our cats or dogs, etc of their species appropriate diet because of ethics? No, of course not because to do so would destroy their health, which is unethical. It’s the way things work, it’s natural and we can’t change that.

I find the explanation a bit unfinished. So here is my try: If you eat carbs only they end up in the blood stream and the cells will take them up until they are at max energy capacity and will then close the gate leaving the excess carbs in the blood stream. If you eat fats only they end up in the blood stream and the cells will take them up until they are at max energy capacity and will then close the gate leaving the excess fats in the blood stream. BUT if you only eat fats the insulin level stays low as the body doesn't need it to convert sugar to fat to store it in the fat cells, because you ate no sugar. The excess fat can just be stored in the fat cells. If you now live on your cells will use up some of their storage and after a while they need new energy. As insulin is low your body can instantly use the fat from the fat cells and replenish the cells as they slowly open up their gates depending on how much they still got in store. BUT if you only eat sugar the insulin skyrockets and the body will use it to convert sugar to fat, and the insulin will veeeery slowly go back down. Then after a while of living on your cells slowly need new energy and open up their gates BUT insulin is still high so your body tries to get some fat out, but insulin just constantly pushes it back into the fat cells, thus leaving your body in an energy lock, where it is slowly using up the storages in the cells but can't deliver new energy from the fat cells. As the body has now locked itself out of it's own energy the only thing it can do to get anything into the cells is to make you eat more. Thus repeating the cycle. Now you are constantly hungry and constantly putting more energy in your fat storage making you fatter and fatter. Some people will get used to this and have faster falling insulin levels but they probably never fall fast enough to allow them to fully run on fat fast enough before they become too hangry again. I'm probably not 100% right, but this is how i currently understand it.

"They were constantly looking for protein" because US society teaches that myth. "One couple had found all the bananas they could eat, but still it wasn’t enough" Yeah it is. Did you know there's a diet called "30 bananas a day". Also the 80/10/10 diet is mostly fruit. These communities have elite athletes. "Their bodies wasn’t satisfied with fruit! " That's a feeling that happens when the digestive system is used to heavy foods, and running on 'high gear'.

You clearly do not understand amino acid profiles which differ between fruit and meat. The lump sum total in fruit is not only less, but the amino acid profile of fruit is lacking the critical bottleneck aminos. The two sources are not equivalent. Furthermore I look on KZfaq at the mostly fruit crowd and I see a lot of very skinny people. Compare the top 5 carnivore KZfaqrs to the top 5 fruits KZfaqrs. Massive difference. SAD!

To the fruit guy who claims it’s all psychological 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 clearly you have no idea what you’re saying. These people are in STARVATION mode there is no amount of social conditioning that would prevent them from sourcing anything to keep them going. Those lacking sufficient animal meat tap out or are taken out due to medical conditions from lack of protein, animal meat. They are each motivated to stay bc they can win $500,000. If they can’t push through on a veg diet for $500,000 then what could be the problem? Lack of animal protein.

All berries are low carb the same with all leafy greens are low carb. I have an extra advantage I grow all my veg! Cabbage, lettuce, Spinach, Kale, Onions, garlic etc etc etc. Also I eat around 5 Avocados a week! As they are basically a natural multi Vitamin tablet. Eating only Grass fed meat, fish from the sea and grass fed outdoor Chicken eggs is the way to go. I was a vegan for two years and my blood glucose went from 10 to a serious dangerous 16. Went Keto in August last year! Within 5 months my A1c is now sitting at around 5.2 everyday and am now off all Diabetic medication. I think the results should prove to you????....yes😑.

So, I am trained in anthropology as my foundation. I think where I find the most conflict in these narratives is in our physical hardwiring for seeking out sweetness. As Berry indicates, there was a survival reason for seeking out sweetness. While obviously we have access to too much carbohydrate abundance now, there was a time in our history would these would have been great energy stores in a time when we were incredibly physical. For example, humans have been eating honey and fruit as far back as we have any type of physical evidence. So the fact that we have sweet seeking genes, if you will, tells me that there is something that the body wants from that. It is not just a poison, as Bart suggests. It may be of course poisonous in excess, but that is a different statement. I recognize that it may be some of us simply can't have it now, because we cannot moderate and we are not living a life which requires such a enormous physicality that it is handled through other balancing systems which would have been natural in the past. But I think it's disingenuous to present it as an absolute poison that our bodies don't need and wouldn't seek, because that is contrary to all that evidence. I also observe that in hot climates, using glucose as fuel is a much more prevalent and typically well-managed tendancy. There's a reason why all the sweetest fruit tends to be equatorial, it seems. I don't even myself like very sweet fruits, but when I am in the tropics, having them is not only refreshing but seems to be kind of all that one wants. I rarely would want to eat meat or anyting overly savory. But in that case, I am not really combining fat and carbs, but rather naturally switching from one fuel base to the other. I do think there is something to the notion of climate and the foundation of one's diet. This would obviously have to do with historical availability, but I think also there are probably biological reasons.

Thanks; I love nuance. As a low res version, sugar = poison is probably ok for the typical American who's way on the other extreme (cola / energy drinks, pastries). But for example the honey treat at Indian restaurants I'm not avoiding with a filling meal, as my nutrition is otherwise healthy.

@@derekteetv how do you define “healthy?” Do you avoid all grains, including the rice so prevalent at Indian restaurants, and all the legume-based foods there? And the industrial seed oil-fried things like papadums, samosas, and pakoras? What about things like saag paneer, or bangan bharta? Both loaded with oxalate and solanine, respectively? I thought Gregor was so spot on about so much... I did vegan, which got me away from the crap I was eating. I did feel better, BUT, something was missing.... the problem was grains, sugar (which I see vegans eat plenty). As an elder, I was disgusted by the fact that I couldn't see my male danlge when standing at attention... for years. This bothered me, big time. In late 2021 I got covid. On my back in bed I had time to think, and to watch videos. After seeing Dr. Berg, Tom DeLaur a few others, I came across you talking about carnivore. What? I decided that it was time to give keto/carnivor a try. It took about a month to ween myself off of carbs, and dealing with digestion issues, but it all faded. The weight came off, and in short order, saw my appendage again. 3 months after starting the diet, I went for hemheroid surgury (had em since my 20's). The doc, while he was there, checked my prostate. In a suprised voice he said, "your prostate is normal." I am an elder, and was told for well over decade, "this is normal for your age." It then hit me. This diet is about health, not just losing weight. For well over a decade, I had an enlarged prostate, and was having urinary issues. They're all gone now. I pee like I did decades ago. Interestingly... all my vegan friends are fat, minimally, they have a "layer." I now wish I had more energy, recovered from workouts, hard work, quicker. Now what?

I’d cut most fat and meat out, never went pure vegan but still ate goat milk, cheese, and yogurt due to cow milk intolerance, eggs, butter and fish. But eating basically all plants and loading up on the “ magic” plant foods promoted by the vegan gurus made me so sick I end up hospitalized with so many plant poisons in me. I studied what I was doing and had to do the ultimate elimination diet, pure carnivore. My body screamed at me with delight when I ate my first hamburger patty in years. On the veg diet never ate high carb or seed oil and stayed metabolically healthy but the nausea and diarrhea from all the kale, blueberries and turmeric made me too thin and frail. On carnivore I’m back up to a healthy weight and strength. You are right, vegan concepts led me to a carnivore diet.

Great walkthrough of the Randle Cycle from Bart. I understood this better when I looked at a cell diagram. The blue area in these 2 diagrams (one for fat flow and the other for glucose flow) are outside of the cell (so the blue is the blood stream) and the peach (CYTO) and green (MITO) are inside the cell. The problem with this Randle Cycle diagram is that everything inside a cell (the nucleus, the Mitochondrion, Lysosome, Ribosomes, and a few more thingies) are all "swimming" in a pool of the CYTO. Meaning that the the MITO is actually a thingy that floats in the CYTO along with the nucleus and all the other aforementioned thingies. The change in color to green for the MITO illustrates a Mitochondrion thingy as a different colour but may lead one to think that the MITO sits outside the CYTO but is doesnt. Clear as mud?

Specifically, separate from fixing metabolic illness, if a very healthy human pushes their metabolic systems beyond what is considered average human physiology for the purposes of high-level performance and "using" certain carbs as a supplement to support things like glycogen requirements and recovery. Very few keto athletes and lots of zealots in the fitness space so I was hoping for your take.

Every Vegan I know is overweight, even obese. My husband had a dietisian at the VA, when he was type 2 diabetic, that was obese, who was giving him bad advise about eating. He followed her plan and had to take more insulin. Now, we went keto 4 years ago, eat a lot of meat and hes reversed his diabetes.

Great talk . Did anyone see that recent research from Durham University ( Beyza Ustun ) which showed that a foetus will recoil when the mother is fed kale ! However, they like carrots ( I wonder if that is because they are sweet ?). It was a study to see if infants dislike of vegetables is an inherent trait . Worryingly the researchers are now looking to see if they can desensitise an infant's revulsion to ' greens ' whilst they are still in the womb !

Yeah, horrible stuff. Instead of asking why a not yet inflamed body reacts bad to vegetables, and if they might contain bad stuff, they go straight to how to indoctrinate their brain into eating plant based before they are even born. Just horrible.

Great video, thank you both so much for helping get the word out. I am 40 and healthier than I was when I was 20. Better built too. Just wish more people realised this stuff and stopped trying to push the bullshit that is carbs and fibre and all other associated non human food.

Invaluable information! Dr. Berry, I wonder if you’ve read the study mentioned on Neuroscientist Dr. Andrew Huberman of Huberman labs at Stanfords podcast episode discussing the interplay between the neurons in our guts that sense sweet even when the palate is bypassed by delivering a sweet bolus directly to study participants guts?
