Yeah, the statue at the beginning shows King Vegeta standing on Frieza. And you're right about the fantasy elements. Based on what Vegeta said to Goku at the end, it seems like Saiyans in this timeline get their power from a "primal light" that is sealed away in their bodies, and they can tap into that light to harness it for their attacks and techniques. It would explain why Vegeta kept getting knocked out of his Super Saiyan state: it isn't a "transformation", he is actively using his light to augment his body, and it stops if he loses concentration. That's also why he would be able to create a sword: as far as I know, we've never seen anybody use ki for an ability like that in the regular timeline, but in this instance, he surrounds himself with his primal light, then fashions it into a weapon he can hold with his hands. It's a cool mixup of the formula. It reminds me of when comic book writers create alternate versions of superheroes, who have the same powers, but with altered origins.

@@peytonalexander5300 The closest thing to the ki sword is Vegito's energy blade attacks that he sometimes uses to stab whoever he's fighting. It's also a call back to Trunks being a sword fighter.

I think its a timeline where saiyans could access super saiyan easier, which is why vegeta already has it, and how they could beat Frieza

I would say that they didn't remember because it wasn't 3 minutes of screaming, or action. I have had a few people trying to watch anime where there are whole episodes dedicated Exposition, world building, and lore, and they would be disinterested or fall asleep. But when screaming and fighting happens they are wide awake and paying attention. not saying everyone is like this. But I have met a lot of people who only watch anime for the fights not necessarily for the story.

The way I look at it, pride was all Vegeta had when he was enslaved by Frieza, which was a very key reason why his character was the way he was. Frieza was definitely racist against Saiyans, so the pride was probably a defense mechanism. This universe’s Vegeta developed differently in since, in this universe, that kind of slavery never happened.

@@nerdtom4513 Honestly, that bump probably helped Goku get stronger than Vegeta, ultimately. Because he lost his memories, he wasn't a feral Saiyan. Because he dropped his violent impulses and channeled it into martial arts, he became a sincerely good kid. And because he was a good kid, pretty much every other opportunity to get stronger was his. It's was a classic talent vs friendship arrangement between those two.

@Lee Brown I just took a shot at Goku for using the Kamehameha, a simple move, most. The Sun Wu Kong thing true, but that's more of a racial trait as far as I understand. It's not Goku's personal talent so much as it is a genetic ability like the Ozaru. You could call it quality over quantity, but the conversation was never about power. It's about which character is more interesting or appealing. Vegeta and Piccolo coming up with more moves is just more engaging for me.

Vegeta is STILL a better dad than Goku who constantly abandons his family and is willing to sacrifice the entire universe just to satisfy his love of fighting. It's not just Vegeta's young father issues with Trunks or Goku's first death for Gohan. Vegeta is fully domesticated by the time of his other children while Goku never outgrows his selfish desires. Bra had a better father than any of Goku's children.
