One of my personal favourites. Lovely for the cold Cape Town weather. Enjoy!!!

The past few days I’ve been feeling so homesick, I miss my mommy’s food. For lunch I just had leftovers of Fatima’s Cabbage Bredie and I’ve got your soup on the boil. Thank you for the recipes, it’s so comforting.

Hi Gaja. This looks delicious. Sounds like you're referring to dumplings that your mom used to add to the pot. Definitely an economical, tasty meal.

Bly warm, bly veilig. 🥰

Naaltjies are cloves in english ...how will the soup taste without chicken necks or without meat? Can I attempt it without meat, what do you suggest?

Are you ok with using animal stock instead of meat? Woolworths sells a good quality fluid vegetable stock (salt content medium) Best stock is always home made, anny bones (even fish bones for a fish based soup) with veg will do. Ads so much depth to the dish. I make a large batch and freez it in ice bock cubes, then I just pop a few blocks into my soup base to give it more depth and substance. Happy cooking 🎈

Nature Choice also makes an excellent Vegetable Stock Powder. You will find this brand at Dischem, most SPAR stores and larger PicknPay's. It costs +- R63.00 for 280g container. It is made up of dehydrated vegetables like onion, celery, leeks, sundried tomatoes, spinach etc. It is economical as you need 1 Table spoon per 250ml cup of boiling water. I use this in all stews, soups and even pasta sauces to give it more depth and a richer taste. It is also Vegan and Gluten Free should that be a need. Hope this helps 🎈

Thank you for being authentic, laughed so hard when you were asking what cloves are,You guys rock, keep it up👌👏🏽🇿🇦
