Hi, at 3.47 the name of that thing is ಚಳ್ಳಕಾಯಿ used for pickle marking in North Karnataka, ಚಳ್ಳಕಾಯಿ ಅದರ ಹೆಸರು, ಉಪ್ಪಿನ ಕಾಯಿ ಮಾಡಲು ಬಳಸುತ್ತಾರೆ ಉತ್ತರ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ.

Bro the cost of things depends upon the purchasing power parity rate. it's around 22 which means if you buy a pen in US for one dollar, in India it costs 22Rs. It's not like multiplying currency exchange rate (1USD =80Rs).

The gonda vegetable is called chalkai, it used to make pickals in North karnataka . It is a special type of pickal not a traditional style

Yes no doubt we pay low prices in India, but we keep our farmers also poor. But in the US, the farmers lead a comfortable life and the consumers pay for it ! In India the middlemen get a big share of the price we pay and the farmers remain poor !

Very shock about the prices. Whatever they are earning they are spending that for groceries. If you buy vegetbles and green leaves used by Americans, they are cheap. For example, coriander, lemon, spinach. If you want to buy groceries that are not bought by Americans, like thondekaai, it is very very expensive. This is because you can buy coriander in any supermarket but not thondekaai. So, to remain competitive, they have to sell cheap.
