LEARN HOW TO MAKE VEGAN JALAPEÑO POPPERS BAKED IN THE OVEN
LAY HO MA!! This is such a fun, delicious, and casual recipe to make and serve. It's tender, crispy, saltly, creamy, spicy, and absolutely mouthwatering. Join me in this episode and learn how to make easy vegan jalapeno poppers recipe right at home. Let's begin!
Ingredients:
12 jalapeño peppers
couple drizzles of olive oil
1/2 tsp + a pinch of pink salt
1 cup cashews
1/4 cup water
1/2 tsp pink salt
1/2 tbsp onion powder
1/2 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp nutritional yeast
splash of lime juice
1/2 cup panko
1 tsp smoked paprika
Directions:
1. Pre-heat the oven to 375F
2. Slice the peppers in half and de-seed them
3. Toss the peppers with a drizzle of olive oil and a generous pinch of salt in a large mixing bowl
4. Line the peppers onto a baking tray
5. Add the cashews, water, 1/2 tsp pink salt, onion powder, garlic powder, nutritional yeast, and lime juice to the blender and blend on high (if you don't have a high powered blender, soak the cashews in water overnight to soften them up). Use the tamper if needed
6. Fill in the peppers with the cashew mixture
7. Sprinkle over generously with the panko and finish with a dash of smoked paprika
8. Bake in the oven for 25min, then broil on low for 1-2min

If you wanted to add some bacon flavor, a lot of bacon bits you buy in stores for salads are actually vegan and made from soy. Just check the label first! I'd miz them into either the breadcrumbs, cashew cheese, or both!

HOLA! (Same as LAY HO MA) 💚 Love these! For nut-free budget version use sunflower seeds instead. Cashews are very expensive in Canada. And if you ever picked one off a tree in Costa Rica you would know why! Sunflower seeds work just as well. Soak overnight for creamy sauces and dressings. 💛🌻💛 Also like roasted shishito pepper snacks!

Yum! Texan-approved :-) I'm going to use crushed gluten-free organic corn tortilla chips instead of panko (not a fan of GF panko). Will need to watch carefully when broiling since the chips can burn easily. Thanks for another great and healthy recipe!

I made this last night and it was delicious! I halved 6 jalapeños instead of 12, but made the same amount of cashew sauce called for ( I learned, If you don't put enough in the VitaMix it won't come out as smooth). Also, de-seed completely if you don't want added HEAT and tingly lips (laugh). I saved a few for lunch today. Just popped it in the oven to reheat. This recipe is a keeper. Thank you, Wil.

Yuumm!! Those look even better than conventional poppers 👀 trying this for SURE. this year our jalapeños have been SUPER HOT 🔥 idky. I learned a little trick, for pepper burn on hands, make a paste of baking soda and water, apply, let dry, rinse, repeat. It really works

@@TheGreenBean we are actually making our own compost and we are hoping it really helps next year based on what we see happening right now! It's weird because there's other peppers right next to the jalalpenos and we've harvested quite a few cayenne and banana peppers from it

OMG! They look incredibly delicious! In case you don't have panko, you can use the Italian way which is either to buy "pane grattuggiato" (grated bread) or wait a few days for your bread to get hard and then grate it yourself. It makes a huge difference!

Just made these along with other tapas and they were absolutely delicious! I followed the recipe to the T, which I don't usually do. I like to tweek here and there. Oh my gosh Wil, a vegan pizzeria in my state (Piante Pizzeria if you’re ever In Breckenridge, CO) makes them JUST like this. I too love the heat but have found out that when even the average hot jalapeño is heated it’s twice as hot, go figure, and I can eat Thai hot 🥵!
