For those who haven't had much experience traveling in China by train, the massive crowds of tourists can be a bit overwhelming at first. But look at the bright side: at least you managed to catch the train on time, board it, and arrive in Chongqing without too much drama. By the way, you don't need to worry about your personal safety-remember, this is China, not NYC, LA, or Chicago. Chongqing is a well-publicized, 8D, cyberpunk, and tourist-friendly city. I'm sure you will enjoy your time there and have a wonderful experience.

Enjoy your time in Chongqing! People from there and Sichuan province are known throughout China for being some of the most warm and sociable people. They may not speak as much english due to lack of international tourists compared to cities like Shanghai and Beijing, but they'll make up for it in their willingness to be helpful 😊

I think the police officer is having mochi with molten sesame, a very popular dessert in China. I believe you ordered sweet potato noodles, which are more slippery than wheat noodles. Next time, try rice noodles or mung bean noodles; the texture is much better.

Chongqing literally means double celebrations. Beijing West is also an enormous railway station. Boarding too early will lead to people packed on the platforms. After sitting down, everything seems to be just fine. Chongqing is located in a mountainous area and for that reason, it was chosen as the wartime capital during WWII.

For veggies like you, you should try MaLaTang(麻辣烫)in Chongqing, so you can pick up as many veggie food, like toufo, vegetables, mushrooms, noodles, as possible. If you don't want the dish too spicy, you can choose less spicy or no spicy broth. Enjoy it. BTW, because Chongqing is well-known for its 8D setting, it's quite normal even for locals to get lost while using GPS.

there are some very fancy vegetarian restaurants in China, but usually they are expensive. "meat" served there is actually "toufu"豆腐, no meat at all. worth a try, pricey though.

you guys are going to the biggest most crowded cities in china 😅. personally I would not go to chongqing, just an over-crowded megacity with endless rows of apt complexes, but I guess it's still an experience. if you get another chance to visit china, try the smaller cities or ancient towns. you got potato starch noodles which can be quiet slippery 😂. the guy next to you was telling you to try what he is having tomorrow - kinda like mochi balls filled with sesame paste.

Changing a ticket due to missing the high speed train is free of charge for the same day in China. If you miss the train, simply go to the ticket center, and they can transfer you to the next available train for the same day. If you are traveling during holidays, there is a possibility that you might receive a standing ticket for the next available train if all seats are sold out. Please note standing ticket is still same price as second class ticket. If you are taking the last train of the day and you miss it, it will be impossible to change or obtain a refund.

I and my wife always booked room at International Youth Hostel/YHA at China… they have good English speakers there… but no problem about language in China.. my wife is 5 generations Hui muslim Malaysian citizen and I also can speak a little bit Mandarin … Every year we try to go back to China to visit our family and friends there

From July 10th finally live in HK foreigners (including Filipina and Indonesian helper) can get the HRP card to go to China stay for 90 days and used for 5 years and even lived in Macau Portuguese and Malaysian can get this HRP card to China trip for 90 days and used for 5 years same as living in HK foreigners used.

"請問,哪裡有素餐廳. 我吃素" meaning equivalent to "I would like to ask if there is any vegetarian restaurant around? I am a vegetarian". FYI, China has a huge population of vegetarian, just that these vegan restaurants are not on main street or tourist spots but at the back street or near temple.
