Rebuilding a totaled 1993 Mustang GT convertible with engine damage.

We don't find too many clean fox body Mustangs around Chicago anymore so when this one came up for auction, I jumped at it. It is one of the most desirable years for the fox body as it has some 1993 only options and was the last year before the SN95s came out. This one took a pretty good hit in the front end and the airbag deployed. It was listed as a stationary no-start with engine damage so let's see what it will take to make it run.

I had a ‘90 GT convertible. I bought it used. It had an auto transmission. I drove it home and ordered everything I needed to put in a World Class T-5 transmission, 3:55 rear gears, subframe connectors, under hood shock tower triangular brace, ‘95 Mustang five bolt front spindles, 5 bolt rear axles, larger throttle body and cold air kit. It was a way different car than the one I drove home when I bought it. No engine internals but it was awesome. I miss it. This vid brought back great memories.

As the former owner of a 93 GT that was very similar to this one, I have to say all of your pokes and jabs at Fords, Mustangs and their owners had me rolling. Glad to see this car in your hands, I know that you'll do it justice. I traded my GT in back in 1998 for a Jeep ZJ. Even though that Jeep lasted me for the next 20 years and 220k miles I still felt bad giving up my Mustang. Long story short, a few years later I found my paperwork on it and I figured that I'd try to track down the new owner and see if they'd be willing to sell it. To my surprise it never made it off the dealer lot (well at least not to a new owner) The dealer's son took the car off the lot about a week after I traded it in and got into a wreck and totaled it out. Was a sad day for me for sure. Best of luck with this build. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for your next videos on it!

As a retired Mechanical cad designer I can totally agree with you! Early CADD was pretty primitive and even as recently as 2011 I was appalled by the perceptions of what CAD could do well, but actually could not. I especially loved when companies claimed how the various CAD platforms were TOTALLY compatible with each other! LOL I spent more time fixing, rebuilding, reconfiguring, redesigning problems that either never should have happened or could have easily been avoided.
@fcorivers

@@markmccallion2856 brother, I'm a Land Surveyor and have been using CAD software for ever and is so overrated. The problem is that there's a generation of people that decided that whatever we have to draw has to be in CAD but they do not bother understanding how ever it is CAD works and the limitations, although I have to say that mechanical drawings in CAD has come leaps and bounds neater than land survey implementations.

I just rewatched the latest on the 93 drop top build. I purchased a 92 drop top this spring, it's a great runner and not in need of anything major but I really appreciate seeing how you navigate removal and installation of various parts of this car. There's no factory instruction or tech manual that can ever take the place of seeing it done real time. Thanks for being so detailed in your videos... can't wait to see this car finished!

When when you were ripping that fan cover off, you forgot to say, hulk, smash! Looks like a fun build.

That Mustang was definitely well taken care of, at least for the majority of it's life. It sure looks worth fixing!

A friend of mine just parted out an 89 convertible with under 6k original miles on it. I believe he still has the quarter window stuff and some other odds and ends if you are looking for that stuff from a low mile car. It also had a gray interior (though the color isn't quite the same between 89 and 93.) Located in central Ohio. I have an airbag, but it's from a 91 which I believe is different than 93.

😂 Loved this video. I was hoping it was Vanilla Ice in the CD player right from the thumbnail. Well done!

Got my first traffic ticket from a state trooper driving a 1983 Mustang 5.0. Always loved the 5.0 mustangs, until they went girlie in the late 90's.

First video of yours I’ve seen. Was going to sub but as an owner of a 91 LX Vert you hurt my feelings. I’m just kidding, subbed. Look forward to part 2 👍🏻

I knew as soon as you turned the key, and it cranked but wouldn't start, what happened.😄 The inertia switch is the first place to look, especially if it took a front end hit. A little bit of frame work, and new rad, new condenser, bumper, left fender, hood, etc. and you can have a driver for pretty cheap! Like someone else mentioned, it seems like it was well cared for by the previous owner!😉

It's only cheap if you have the frame rack and the skills. This light hit is a $6000 bill minimum.

@@hotpuppy1 True that, framework, especially on newer stuff, is delicate work, and you have to be careful not to tear the metal. Definitely an exercise in patience!
