Let me summarize season 2: - buncha men get killed - nobody cares - Velma throws a tantrum that nobody's paying attention to her, and admits she did it, but - she is once again told to be the smartest person in the room, and gets away with it, until - there are no more men in town, because they're either dead or they left - bonus: Fred comes back, solves the crime, gets police from outside town with the evidence he's collected and anonymously submitted - Velma is arrested, tells her father, who left town earlier, to defend her. - he tries, but of course, he's not the smartest person in the room - Velma's mother bails her out - Velma kills the remaining men - Fred attempts to leave evidence, but is chased away now no one needs to watch

As someone who reads a lot of fanfiction, I've actually read a surprising number of self-insert fics that were well-written and respectful to their source material. Fics like This Bites, Dreaming of Sunshine, and Roger Roger are actually really good. But the problem is, Velma is a self-insert written by a narcissist. Jeremiah Cross, Shikako Nana, and 711, despite being self-inserts, work as characters because their writers were willing to present them as imperfect, something that Mindy Kaling was completely unwilling to do with Velma.

Scooby-Doo is one of those special shows that feels sacred, much like the Looney Tunes, Animaniacs, and TMNT. Maybe it's due to their simple nature and ability to be so relaxing and fun that makes them so special. Whatever it maybe, we know it's there and we want to see them preserved and respected when brought back to the small screen (or even the big screen). But to see this abomination of a show return and continue to disgrace the Scooby-Doo legacy... it makes my blood boil.

... How do you get a negative number of views? If nobody watches it that's zero. If someone watches it, the number goes up. So then... How do you make zero go down?

Changing the characters to be like the voice actors has already been a bad idea. Even they would never take Casey Kasem's demand in making Shaggy a vegetarian when he became a vegetarian. Dan Castellaneta is a vegetarian, and still willing to voice as a meat and beer-loving character. Voice acting is diverse that the guys are allowed to voice as characters different from themselves. Sex is the only acceptable limit because the throat is different, affecting the pitch.

Heck, sex isn't always even a hard limit, because oftentimes women voice little boys due to the difficulties around child acting. Plus, "beautiful woman with a man's voice" is a somewhat common comedy trope, though few examples stick around within their series as long as Dr. Girlfriend did on Venture Bros.
