well after being diagnosed with CLL STAGE 2 , i just got a phone call today that i also have MCC. IT SOUNDS LIKE I AM DOOMED NOW. I better get my funeral plans in order.

My 87 yr old mom just got diagnosed with MCC on thigh and lymph node.. Dr recommended radiation...I still dont quite understand..

I was diagnosed with MCC in February 2015 as a 44 year old male with no autoimmune issues. I had surgery a week later, stage 2B tumor on left forearm was removed via a radical, wide excision, had centennial lymph node under left arm removed, biopsy came back negative for MCC cells. In March I underwent 5 weeks of radiation on my left arm near my elbow. On May 5th of this year, I will reach my 5 year mark (hopefully). Advice to anyone newly diagnosed; join the MCC online community for support, get to one of the experts in this rare cancer, like Dr. N in Seattle, get on this fast and follow the treatment plan to the letter.

I am a lay person...husband just got diagnosed with stage 3 MCC...had prime site dissection with wide margins and two sentinel nodes show a few MCCs. Three questions...why are we not using the immunotherapy drugs in the beginning after detection of MCC and right after the dissection of the tumor, instead of either lymph node dissection or raditatio therapy? Also, is there any difference in effectiveness between total Lymph resection and just radiation? Is Proton radiation more effective than the typical radiation used? We need to make a choice and I see no studies to compare.
