Cheese Boutique was started in 1970 by Hysen and Stella Pristine after immigrating from Albania. The humble mom and pop store opened in Bloor West Village and grew lock and step with the rise of Foodie culture in Toronto. Cultivating a customers tastes takes time for an appetite of change and broadening those horizons became a focused mission. We seek to bring the very best to the table by continuing to strive and explore traditional methods of aging and preparation while experimenting with new ones.
As an epicurean emporium, the cumulative knowledge of three generations are now grooming to pass on to a fourth. Agim Pristine with his wife Sophia and Afrim Pristine are taking everything they have learned and expanding upon services while mentoring Agim’s son, Fatos Pristine.
Walking in to the store, you will find prosciutto that hangs from the ceiling, truffles are carefully displayed, caviar sits under lock and key. Beef is dry aged 40 days, there are olive oil from over eighty different terroirs, amazing artisanal breads and delicious pastry temptations. Cheese Boutique hand-picks produce daily and there is also a chocolate boutique wall constantly being added to. Of course our star attraction is our cheese vault housing ripening cheese and is open to the public.
Not only great food can be found at Cheese Boutique. You can shop for the best in house wares, barbecues, small appliances, charcuterie boards and other cooking implements. The walls at 29 Ripley Avenue are filled with Le Creuset, Staub, All-Clad, Krups Broil King; everything to deck out your kitchen and outdoor living space.
