My uncle Frank and zia Delfina are amazing. They really paved the road for our entire family. They came to this country with 13 bucks in their pocket (Pier 21 - where their name is logged) and raised a wonderful family and inspired many of us to come to Canada and discovery new opportunities. This visit to their home discovers the world of cured pork, tubes of fat, loaded fridge, tools of the trade, handed down tricks and yes a cantina full of stories. Cameo appearances from my mom Pasqualina and Zia Maria Lombardi. We've got to go back to hear and document more stories. Pls enjoy.
PS: If you can't understand what my uncle and I are saying it means you're not Calabrese.

Thank you Frank for preserving on video this wonderful legacy of the Calabrese traditions! I am calabrese too, and I understood your uncle perfectly! It brought be back to when my grandparents used to make the sausages, wine, giardinieri, , etc. It brought melancholic tears to my eyes. You are hilarious too! Today, it just so happens, I am going to my parents house to help with making sausages, and I hope to continue these beautiful traditions. Once again thanks for making me feel wonderful and warm inside!

that's my dad :) I'm so touched by your observation of the twinkle in his eye! His eyes sparkled and he had a million dollar smile. My dad was a force whom loved deeply, was passionate about life and a proud family man. Miss him every minute.

Very nice video with a beautiful family. My grandfather was from Calabria as well and his name was Nicola Mazzuca. His son and my father's name was Frank Mazzuca. Thank you for sharing this nice production. Your enthusiasm comes through as your Uncle Franks beams with pride.

Thank you for sharing such an awesome video, I also shared it with my parents who immigrated from Calabria. My Dad just finished packing his latest batch of sausage and sopresata and my fridge is full. I take pics of him in his cantina and post them every year.....such pride and hard work. I watched the video a few times with pride and tears for our beautiful heritage. I look forward to seeing more. Do you have others on KZfaq? Thanks again

I couldn't understand very much that was said. I also don't know what any of that food was (but I just know it is out of this world good !). And yet I enjoyed this video so much. Your Uncle is such a warm and kind soul. The way the Uncle and nephew seem to love one another so much was worth the watch. Add to that, the fact that old home traditions are being handed down to the next generation, and this is a recipe to cherish ! God bless this lovely family !

What is life without pork fat? This is real food! Please consider a family cookbook with all of these beautiful traditional foods that is the essence of being Italian! We must not let these special traditions be forgotten. Especially when it is authentic homemade. I miss fresh pork delicacies like this. I will be your first costumer. Zia Gilda my Grandma would be happy to see these recipes past down.
