For all that are venting their hate on venom, i feel sorry for you all. Venom get up on stage for their fans not haters.. Welcome to hell, Black Metal, At War With Satan... That's the stuff that got the whole movement going.. Also i don't get the commenting on Cronos's looks ( we don't have to kiss him ). I still play their music and love it.. "Venom" , Possessed , Slayer , Kreator . Sodom .. That's the Shit :)

when Venom and similar bands came out in the early 80s - their music was fucking nuts! no one was making this sound - it may lack the kick of modern bands but back then, jeez - this music really was black. easy to kick em now but they were fore-runners to a lot of todays metal. glad I was a young buck back in the day to appreciate this band today. maybe you just had to be there?

@oceandark30449 жыл бұрын
You know, maybe guys like Metallica and Anthrax, nowadays, kind of lack that kick, but I don't think Venom falls in that camp. I think that's why they were so misunderstood in their time and nowadays are considered one of the world's most influential metal bands. They were just a decade or so heavier than their time with something like this. But man, even if this was released today as a new release, maybe the production values would be higher, but it would still be some of the fastest and baddest stuff on the planet.

You seem to think I'm undermining what Venom have done in metal.... I'm not, in fact I'm usually an advocate of Venom's music and influence, I was just saying that without motorhead slayer wouldn't have seen the light of day.
@gregtalley157510 жыл бұрын
No, the complex riffs came from Priest not Anvil. Did not mention Motorhead, because Slayer never sounded like nor mentioned Motorhead as an influence. Venom were not only influenced by Motorhead, but just as much by Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Hardcore Punk & KISS (God Of Thunder).

Slayer was the first replica of Venom. That is why I put them second on the list. At the same time, none of those other bands I mentioned really brought anything new to the table as well like Venom did. Although, I believe this would be a killer show in nomine Satanas.
@7dayspking10 жыл бұрын
They're A thrash metal band but that song and album are actually black metal (the first black metal.) You may notice the song structures and harsh vocals are very similar to bathory (especially in blood fire death when they started forming viking metal and moving away from black metal.)

Possessed & Death were prodigies of The Almighty Venom. Slayer were directly influenced by Venom, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, & Hardcore Punk. There is nothing you can tell me I don't know already. Slayer also liked Anvil, but did not show up on Slayer albums as an influence.
