Vern's Can Crusher

Can Crushers. I've been building can crushers for forty years. I started with hand can crushers, then to automated can crushers crushing one can at a time, moved up to the automated side to side 24 cans a minute crushing cans as fast as you put them in. When I saw the log-splitter fly wheel rapid fire rack and pinion technology, I had to design a new can crusher that crushes a whole load of cans. Just pour them in a hopper and it takes only a one second stroke to crush any kind or variety of cans in less than a minute.

i hope to someday become a great can crusher makers like you. as of know i use a 3M mop bucket squeeze part. add little vibrating motor to hopper to help cans fall.

just need to rig it so it does it by itself so you dont have to keep moving the handle

maybe some version of a pittman arm, like a train wheel linkage, powered by gearmotor at variable or low output speed for about 6 cycles per minute or so.

In Iowa in order to get your 5 cents back on the can you cannot turn in crushed cans. Even the recycle center ships them out as full can which seems to be crazy.

Rules like this are made by those who have a pecuniary interest or favor to turn. Glad we don't all live in Iowa. The point is to recycle, not to refill cans or to make the loads bulky and inconvenient.

This is true. I lived in Iowa as a teen. Though it was weird that people took cans to the same place that crushes cars in WI. Just worth scrap weight

The cans have to be crushed top to bottom not on their side or recycle yard doesn't want them here in AZ,

Great Job Vern. There are plenty of really cool designs out there to crush cans an you have a good selection. I especially like this one kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ht13ZMqEuLbWj4E.html because it reminds me of a old fashion steam engine train. Keep on crushing Vern.
