Verne really sells for Eric, makes you believe Yukon Eric is so powerful he can't be beat.

I’m not sure how much of that was selling. Yukon Eric was a legit powerhouse before strong men became a thing in wrestling.

I just watched a Icons thing on Yukon. It was said that he was legitimately very very strong. If memory serves Yukon was actually from Washington State and the men in his family really were Lumberjacks. Seems like alot of the Wrestlers from that time really were legit tough. And of course Vern was a legit Wrestler before becoming Pro.

Great match. Some guys today could learn from this: A great match takes great storytelling, regardless of how many backflips a guy can do.

Many many years ago my brother picked up Yukon Eric, who was hitchhiking barefoot. Brother Ed said he was a pleasant fella during their few miles they rode together.

Vern could be surprisingly quick back then. Guess I'm more used to watch old Vern because I wasn't expecting flying head scissors or any quick moments from him.

It had to be tough for Verne here. Yukon Eric works about as good as The Great Khali. But Verne's trying to make lemonade out of it.

They must be joking. Yukon Eric is more powerful that his 220 pound lightweight. For 5 years, when I was 10 years old living in East York, Yukon Eric liver on the same block as me, just around the corner. He drove a 1958 Lincoln Continental Mark 111. It was a pink convertible. Too bad he had no one to turn to in his time of need! Yukon Eric was a graduate of the University of Washington. He had a 66 inch chest! Both brains and braun! Yukon Eric's yard was filled with pear trees, and one day his wife came out the back door, saw me, and said to me " better not let my husband see you up there!" Sure enough, the pink Lincoln came down the driveway and a giant steeped out! Glad he never looked around the yard, just went in the house!

Fantastic match but the finish is strange. I assume Eric is disqualified for punching Gagne in the corner, but not only was there no count initiated, but it came seconds after Gagne punched Eric repeatedly in the corner for a lot longer than that

@@sunnystreet11 It makes a lot of sense when you realize Verne wasn't suppose to lose his belt that night and Yukon wasn't suppose to lose either. It was either going to be a DQ, a count out or time expired. That way each wrestler keeps their reputation intact.

It was a pleasure seeing Verne getting his ass kicked through the match...It always is. In typical fashion Verne was being pummeled and guess what..yep..he won. Also holding titles as a 60 year old skinny man is ridiculous and pathetic.
