Two is kinda lame. The ending was re-written as a result of the 9/11 attacks, which isn't much of a spoiler. I blame al Qaeda. But MiB 3 more than makes up for it. It's kinda like the original Indiana Jones trilogy that way. Weak middle but solid beginning and ending films.

Vincent D'Onofrio, who played the bug, is so underrated although he has had some quite notable roles over the years. I highly recommend the movie Dying Young where he and Campbell Scott play possible love interests of Julia Roberts'. It's an amazing story though tissues will be needed.

Since Veronique enjoyed Tommy Lee Jones here, she definitely needs to watch this movie. There is a reason he earned an Oscar for that movie. And it‘s even more impressive when you know that he and the other Marshalls made up most of their dialog, because the script wasn‘t finished.

Can’t neglect to mention his character in Law & Order: Criminal Intent. He’s fascinating to watch and can play off of or against just about anyone, well. I understood Goldblum stepping into D’Onofrio’s intelligent yet quirky vacuum. They take up the space and make it their own.

I lost it at the "set phasers to stun maybe?!" XD "He's serious. I like him." I cannot WAIT for you to see the Fugitive and U.S. Marshals then someday if you think he's serious in this. Those films are just like the Ryan trilogy, action movies for adults. Ugh... I miss the days when we had more films like that. It's also interesting how many reactors don't realize what all the tests are, what is and is not a test, or that the tests are all about thinking critically, creatively, and independently. I appreciate watching people who get it. I always thought it was obvious, but the internet taught me otherwise! I too loved L. I hate that she wasn't used again. For me personally it killed the franchise. The sequels are okay and I don't begrudge others enjoying them though. ♥

The first appearance I remember of the Men in Black was on an episode of The X-Files called Jose Chung's "From Outer Space". The agents were played by the late Alex Trebek of Jeopardy fame, and Jesse "the Body" Venture (who might have still been wrestling at the time - before he became governor). The weird thing is that I recall them playing themselves who happened to have the famous side-jobs.

Danny Elfman was the singer of a great band called Oingo-Boingo, they had hits like “Dead Man’s Party”, “Weird Science” (yes, the 80s movie of the same name), “Who Do You Want To Be?” and many others. I saw them live on Halloween night, I think in 1989. In his career doing movie music, he has done music for almost all of Tim Burton’s movies, including Batman, Edward Scissorhands, Nightmare Before Christmas, & many others. The tragic events in Baltimore yesterday reminded me of a movie that might interest you at some point. "The Mothman Prophesies". It stars Richard Gere and Laura Linney and is based on a true event that happened in West Virginia in the 1960s. There were sighting of a strange creature just before a major bridge collapse. The movie is a combination of sci-fi, mystery and ghost story. I've been to the place where it took place. There is even a museum there. Like you don't have enough movie suggestions. LOL

Also you said you like reading the movie tidbits, so mine for this one is the MiB were a real thing in the 70s and 80s, at least in the U.S. They were reported as always traveling in pairs, wearing the suit and the shades, being really weird, really tall, very similar to each other in build and countenance, and possibly somewhat alien-like in appearance and behavior. They were believed to show up to talk to people who reported UFO sightings or encounters, having crazy-sounding excuses for whom they worked for and the purpose of their visit, and being nonviolent, though occasionally dropping warnings about what people should or shouldn't talk about. But they were more interested in the physical evidence. An atypical proportion of cases where they showed up involved "missing time" in the memories of a witness. While they claimed to be working for human intelligence and didn't overtly claim to be alien, it was widely believed in the ufology community that the MiB were either nonhuman or were working for nonhumans. Some believed they were hybrids; some said they were wearing "human suits" as disguises, and that this accounted for their bizarre appearance, behavior, and personality. They also had extensive knowledge of unknown or nonhuman technologies or methods, a fact they seemed uniquely unconcerned about letting witnesses know. IIRC, some of the earliest reports of MiB visits date to the 60s or possibly even the 50s.

And for Ford, Air Force One is pretty killer too. Not one of HIS best roles, per se, but the film is just fantastic, suspenseful R rated fun. Thank you. Tommy Lee Jones has been in 65 movies since 1970, and at the time of Men in Black's release was by far the bigger of the two stars, though Mr. Smith was already hugely popular. Mr. Jones had been in 17 movies during the preceding decade almost all of them as the star or co-star. Of the 65 movies he has appeared in a small selection are; "Coal Miner's Daughter" (1980), "The Fugitive" (1993), "The Client" (1994), "Cobb" (1994), "Volcano" (1997), "Under Siege" (1992), "Double Jeopardy" (1999), "The Hunted" (2003), "Man of the House" (2005), "No Country for Old Men" (2007), "In the Valley of Elah (2007), and "Ad Astra" (2019). Outside of movies Mr. Jones has appeared in 18 TV production, series, mini-series, and films, as well as on Broadway 4 times.

The beaded car seat cover is an inside joke. All cab drivers in NY had them. They were kind of a fad then. They provide circulation, because NY cabs get hot. But a lot of people hate them, that's why it got thrown on the ground and that's why Will knew it was a cab.

40:39 Rick Baker is an absolute legend in the world of Hollywood make up and effects thanks to his work on 'An American Werewolf in London' (1981). The Academy Award for best make up was created after the fantastic work on 'The Elephant Man' (1980) went unrecognised and Rick has the honour of being it's first recipient, one of SEVEN wins for him from 11 nominations. BTW you ought to watch 'An American Werewolf in London' this Haloween and 'The Elephant Man' is a stunning movie - but bring tissues.

35:57-36:05 A little slow to get there... But probably not as slow to get a pop culture reference as Steve Rogers. 35 year coma seemed very far fetched, but not as much a stretch as one might initially think. Annie Shapiro (1913-2003) was in a coma for 29 years after a massive stroke. She woke up in 1992 before waking up. Similarly, a woman in the United Arab Emirates (Munira Abdulla) spent 27 in a coma before waking up in 2018. Such occurrences are, obviously, extremely rare. But knowing a 29 year coma ended in 1992 (5 years before this movie) and that patient lived about 8 years after this movie, so she was alive and could have watched this movie even when it came out on home video, much less in theaters, if she'd chosen to, does indicate 35 years isn't "completely implausible"

1 Edgar/Bug = Vincent D'onofrio played Gomer Pyle in "Full Metal Jacket". 2. Tommy Lee Jones' roommate in college was Al Gore. 3. Jones has claimed that he's never had a part that he didn't love and doesn't have a job. Just a hobby that pays very well.🤑😁 4. "Congratulations Reggie........It' a squid".🤣 5. Having a weapon with a recoil like that defeats the purpose of a human using it. 6. Tell me this wasn't a fun movie. I dare you.
