One counterpoint to filling filters before installing them is on vehicles that have separate supplies to the engine and to the filter; putting the filter on empty is one less opportunity for dust etc to get in.

Yes in most situations the cat is good to drive, can be rough at speed travelling on dirt roads, I did 4 and half HR trip to a job, towing a large set of ennor discs , fair bit of cab shake , on rough Rd, but in paddock I loved it , plenty power, you may know ,keep an eye on fan bearing assembly , can be a lot of damage if not caught in time , I felt a small vibration and stopped straight away , saved a lot of damage , Cheers , hope crops do well, 🤠🇦🇺

Those tracks sure seem a bit narrow on the Cat. Especially for all the wet conditions you encounter in the paddocks.

Like your blogs,we kiwis dont have the big stuff over here ,so its very interesting to those of us that are interested I think you'll find that engine oil filters ,deal with some of the oil some of the time, and were advised in the trade not to fill the filters as cross contamination can easily occur,,just a bit of 70 year old information. Keep the stories coming.

Enjoyed this. Like anything that relies on machinery, service and maintenance never end. Ignore it, and it will bite you when you can least afford the time

I can recommend EZ-Drain oil plug replacements, they're a little ball valve and dust cap deal that make oil changes tidier and easier.

got a newer mt855e 12 cylinder and not as easy to do a service but love the hp and tractor as a whole

great to hear Peter's contribution to things. The recent video about the tires/tyres being repaired in hard times was great "story time" as well. Even if it's just a service or maintenance period, the techniques and tools required are interesting, in my opinion. For example, the demo of the air filter cleaning near the end. I'm curious what you had on the end of the cleaning wand but it did a heck of a job in blowing out half of your paddock stored inside. 😲

Thanks for the video Matt. I liked how you explained the difference between the two types of tractors tracks vs Tyers. How many days of sowing do you have left. We got a day in the other day then stopped as some paddocks were still to wet. Some were very close for sowing but the rain got us again on Friday so hopefully early next week we can get going again fingers crossed.🤞👍

Have cat got a diff lock type system on the twin track tractors so when it gets in a wet patch both tracks pull together not just one which just spins one side and the other is stationary
