Though I agree Obi-Wan would win, people in these comments are seriously underselling Kao-Cen Darach. Dude got thrown into a fight cold against enemies who had not appeared in generations and not only held his own, but had the serious advantage against the Sith vanguard while having to deal with Satele doing her Johun Othone impression the whole fight. He was also a Jedi Battlemaster, which should not be discounted as a testament to his skill. He only lost the fight due to low stamina, if he duelled Malgus at his peak, 1 versus 1, I have no doubt he would have won.

Kao Cen Darach was such a good natured master to Satele and probably all of the other Jedi / apprentices that were around him. Level headed, calm and certainly someone I'd look up to and want to be under in terms of leadership or apprenticeship if I were a padawan Jedi.

One thing I always appreciate about your videos is the way you get so much information from so little media, and use it to make a compelling argument for guys like Darach or Warb Null, who are only seen in one cutscene and a few pages of a comic respectively. To be able to compare and contrast Darach to a guy who has been in so many movies, books and shows as Kenobi, all while making them feel like equals, is a feat in and of itself

I know what you've done, you've tried to convert 1.82m into feet through googles unit converter and it's given you a measurement equalling 5.97 which you've interpreted as 5'9 just shy of 5'10. When in fact it means 5.97 is just shy of 6.00 = 6 foot. I believe 1.82m is equal to 5 feet 11 and 21⁄32 inches (Just over 5'11.5) Common mistake you've made.

A similar match I feel you'd have fun with: T'ra Saa VS Oppo Rancisis, or T'ra Saa VS Nomi Sunrider. None of them get enough love, and they definitely are the other side of the quintessential Jedi. Plus, T'ra Saa needs to be explored more--arguments can be made that she's second only to Yoda in the Force by the end of TCW.

I am a great fan Jensaarai1 I applaud your insights into these videos as I love Star Wars. However, there is one point you made I want to address. Mainly because I myself have been in martial arts since I was 6 and this includes several forms of sword training such as Kendo, fencing, and others. I just want to bring up your point at 10:35, just because he didn't use force deflection in that instance doesn't mean he was incapable. He was fighting two opponents and Koa probably knows his lack-luster stamina. If I was in his position, wasting more energy than needed is a foolish move. By not using such a labor-intensive force power, he saves the already limited stamina he has. Not to mention he had two lightsaber which might very well make such as move impossible. Either way, I think you do a great job with these videos and I hope to be able to continue to watch these for a long time.

Darach and Zallow have my favorite lightsaber hilt in all of star wars history. I love the beveled emitter shroud.

Not sure it's fair to deny Darach the possibility of ability with tutaminis. The only time an energy based attack has been seen used against him was when he was wielding dual blades; we can't expect him to just drop one to absorb the blast with his hand just to show off and sacrifice his counter.

I feel like everyone undersells kao cen darach. He knows how to fight in multiple styles, he's like a Swiss army knife. He doesn't have to be amazing at everything, he just has to exploit the weaknesses of the opponent's style by adapting his own. This didn't work against maglus because he was not as strong or as fresh since he had just endured a 1v2 battle against the 2 sith and had killed one. Malgus was naturally stronger and was fueled by rage whereas darach was tiring out. Had the 2 been fighting fresh, malgus would have struggled a lot more since darach showed that he can deal with maglus's strength earlier in their fight (in parts like the blade lock, which doesn't work if one person easily physically overpowers the other). Also (speculation here) when ur holding a ligjtsaber in each hand and choose to block lighting with them rather than dropping one to absorb it, it doesn't necessarily mean that you can't absorb it using *the force skill that I have no idea how to spell*. I know we have only one battle with darach to base analysis off, and I agree kenobi would win since there isn't really any way to beat obi wan using ligjtsaber skills, but still - kao cen datach is sorely underestimated as a duelist

One that I believe would be an decent match up would be Maul vs Vindican. On one side, the sith assassin who lead the return of the sith but never surpassed his master, on the other the Sith assassin who lead the return of the Sith but was overshadowed by his apprentice.

Aside from what can be learned from studying his actions during the duel with Malgus and Vindican we know little of how would operate when not facing poor odds trapped with his back against the wall and making a sacrifice to buy time for other to escape. I can't help but wish to know more about him, especially since true masters of niman are rather rare

@Ki Adi Sandwich malgus wasn't on the losing side of his duels with aryn the first one she was amped because of her masters death. "It says that his strength was being (answered) by her speed," not being beaten by it. The second fight he could have killed her but chose not to because she spared Eleena his lover. So that claim is ignorance at best and kao had to worry about his apprentice literally half the fight yet he still force pushed him across the hanger. if you analysis the duel he had both malgus and vindican in his trap redirecting lightning on malgus and scoring two hits on vindican, yes he gets strength blitzed which I think Is more due to fatigue much like qui gons situation. I think qui gon really wasn't what everyone holds him up to be I think he's very tactically hindered by his over reliance on the force to get him through. Plus instead of retooling his fighting style he used the same energy wasting style just with less acrobatics and more of a makashi mentality. My point is You underestimate kao which is stupid to do cause the outcome is surrounded with circumstances.

His practical approach to combat makes me think of Niman, using the most straightforward techniques in the midst of combat. He also talks about environmental advantages (keeping your back to the Sun or light and making use of the high ground) similar to Sokan.

I don't see how this can possibly be the case and would think the opposite is true. Dropping your weapon when as a guardian, your lightsaber is your strength sounds foolhardy even if you can perform the feat. Maybe Durach lacks this skill, but we cannot be certain of it because of this fight...

Hey Jensaarai1, I have a questions for you regarding the Legends material, which out of the 3 Darth Bane Books is your personal favourite and why?

I like your vids Jensaarai, but Kao Cen Darach will win against ObiWan(despite being a fan favorite, and I like him as well).. he is a master in all 7 forms, a friggin Jedi Battlemaster, and that will be the definitive edge here. He is a Zabrac and those have a stamina that is better than human. When Kenobi enhances his , so will Darach enhances his as well. As aJedi Battlemaster it seems kinda unlikely that Kao Cen Darach gets his ass kicked everywhere. Obi wan was Soresu, but Kao is a master in all seven.. Do not bring up Malgus, for Malgus is severly underrated as well.

We can make this very simple Malgus as of Deceived (who is substantially faster than the one that pressed Durach) could move so fast (while fighting Aryn Leneer) he appeared as a blur. Kenobi as of AotC could move faster than the eye can perceive. Add in Kenobi's growth into RotS and this is a damn near speed blitz. I like Durach a lot. But he's not doing anything here. Skill, power, he's so ludicrously outclassed here.

It would be a great fight to watch i love Cao even just this one showing is brilliant although if they were to fight it would come down to who can outlast the other and obi wan kenobi would take this in this field his defence was impenetrable but cao could adapt to Kenobi every time he gets an attack sequence but Kenobi could bounce straight into a defence posture again
