I have a Mk III Versys 650 GT as my first big bike and it's phenomenal. Put 2.5k on it in the first month and have loved every single mile. Parents are going to Gran Caneria at the end of the year. They didn't seem too happy when, after watching this, i've asked to tag along xD

I loved my Versys 650 GT. I smashed 23k on mine in 3 years. Great first big bike, decent commuter and could also tour. Must get myself to Gran Canaria. Those roads!

Rock Nublo, is that huge rock you can see for miles. Great memories, did four trips with Canary Motorcycle Tours in previous years. Joy and Martin certainly look after you, it's probably the easiest way to ride abroad in our winter.

Great video Bruce. Been there twice and yes, those roads are fantastic. I had an NC750 and it was very happy on those mountain roads. If anyone hasn't been, I highly recommend it! It also brought back some great memories.

I had a versys 650, as a second bike for work, ect,ect. Nice little bike. Whatever you’re on a 2k bike or a 20k adventure bike. The view is exactly the same. Chers Bruce.

Their insurance will cover the bike, but YOU need to have travel insurance in place which covers you for riding a motorcycle above 125cc (a lot of travel insurance companies only cover up to 125cc normally).

Cracking roads Teapot, good to mention about the insurance, I always get the right insurance for riding abroad bit more expensive but the cost without it if needed could lose you your house. Much the same for the ordinary 125cc on the usual policy, on most if you read the small print usually states your only insured if you wear the appropriate protective gear otherwise they’re not paying out. By that assume they don’t mean helmet, tee shirt, shorts and flip flops.

I've got a 2011 versys 650, I know it's no looker but with the arthritis in my hands it made sense to downsize from a Multistrada. It's got factory panniers great for trips away.

Roads looked good Bruce, interesting angle of attack the geezer on the bike in front of you bud. You might want to steer him in the direction of Rapid training before he throws his machinery at the scenery

You got to test ride the new versus 1000 se gt in the uk at some point. But good rides very jealous. The weather is very similar to the isle of man.

Versys 650 is a good bike. Had the gen 1 for a while and loved it. Look wise it’s a marmite bike not to everybody’s taste though

i own a 2021 Kawasaki Versys 650, the mid range model but got the top box added in as it come with the pannairs. the bike is great for me, im getting back into biking after 10years out of it, so the 650 good for insurance, its also a decent step up from lower cc engines for someone passed there tests. only things that are annoying me on it after 10k miles, clutch is getting heavy and stiff, had the rear shock replaced under warranty as it siezed up, and i dont like the givi top box mechanism to hold it shut, takes a lot of effort to push the button to open it and is annoying to line it up to shut it when top box near full, i prefered my 2006 givi top box clasp. its quoted at 65hp at 7000rpm, if you push it it can keep up with a 1000 on scottish roads, it can do 80 or 90 on a motorway but it doesnt like motorways, could do with a gearing change with chain and sprocket so it sits better on motorways if you do a lot of motorway miles. 2 up its good, me and the wife went up to Blair Castle few weeks ago, up the A9 and handled it well. And i think the best bit, living in Dundee someone tried to nick it by kicking the handle bars to break the lock, because of the design, the handle bars twisted but the lock didnt break, it cost me less than my excess to get the handle bars fixed but they didnt get the bike wich is important. if you are looking for a mid ranged touring motorbike, its decent. those roads looked fantastic to ride, maybe in a few years if the wife gets past her test we will do a trip like that too lol
