Another great journal book. I love how you find old books with great leather materials. And a great hidden stitching technique. And I love your way of making a border when you don't have the preferred punch. Very clever!

This is one of the prettiest and most well done vintage journal I've seen. I would definitely use that as a journal or a Commonplace book. I'm your mirror image - I LOVE writing but, although I've collected a lot of materials for junk journals and have ideas on what I'd like to make, I have a really hard time doing the making. After several years of angst over this and especially for bullet journal use, I'm purchasing ones with the basics already inside (just purchased my first Hobanichi Cousin Avec) and plan to decorate blank areas with ephemera from my life. I'm 68 and have inherited amazing photos, newspaper clippings, etc. going back into the early 1900's. They've just been sitting in boxes but I'm determined to work them into books that I actually will use. Thank you for a wonderful presentation.
@debbieanneEVG2 жыл бұрын
It sounds like you have found a way to journal on your own terms. Keep in mind that adding ephemera to your pages will create bulk and you may need to reinforce the spine over time. But more importantly, be open to trying new things and have fun!

Thanks for sharing....I think I'm in your boat....love making journals but not great at journaling at all. I also laughed about having rubber stamps ...I don't use mine either. But, I have an idea for folks like us... I'm going to make a stamp journal so I can look thru it as I work to see if there is any thing I want to use in the journal I'm making at the time. We'll see if I turn my idea into an actual book or not.....it will be a lot of work....I have a ton of stamps. Big hugs....I'll be watching....deb the RN...on YT.

Beautiful work here. It's a shame to call it a junk journal! I've made these for years (and in person and online class on them.) I've always thought of it as Book Rescue :)
@debbieanneEVG9 жыл бұрын
Indeed Diana. I don't consider vintage books junk. They've been discarded as such when I find them in the thrift stores but once I bring them home, they become part of the family. I fill them with found papers and more, so they do retain the 'junk' name but to me they are definitely treasures to cherish :D

I am like you and these images are just breathtaking. I would not be able to use it either. I would love to be able to just pick it up any time I wanted and enjoy looking at each and every page. I love the idea of the tuck spots throughout the journal. The coffee stained pages are wonderful. Shakespeare is the perfect name for this journal. It has the feeling and look of that time in history. Where do you find the amazing images? Thanks for sharing your talent with us.

I read all the comments to make sure my question had not already been asked. Like everyone else, I think your junk journal is wonderful. Thank you, from a newbie,for all the great ideas. when you sew your signatures onto the plate, do you start from the middle and work your way out or from one edge over to the other?
