I remember watching all your tutorial videos a year ago and I was so inflexible and stiff and I dreamed of being where I am today. I worked super hard everyday and I followed your videos and eventually I got closer and closer to my goals. Stretching is super hard because it hurts but I'm a dancer and I wanted to be able to have pretty leg extensions in ballet and I wanted to be able to do my needle especially. It was super hard to stretch my back and it still is but I'm way further now than I was a year ago and can happily say I have all my splits and my needle. However, I made new goals and I'm ready to reach them this summer. Thank you Alivia.

OMG. A couple years ago I struggled to get my scorpion, but hurt my back and shoulder in the process, never tried it again. I just watched your technique to get into the scorpion and decided to give it a go. I stood there, on one leg, staring at myself in the mirror in total shock 0.0 Like wow... I...did...it... Now I just have to continue working on my flexibility to make my scorpion better. Love your vids :)

I'ma try this and update the comment: Day 1). I didn't get much farther than a regular scorpion, my hands are basically grabbing my ankle so I need to work on getting them further down my leg. Day 2) I got a lil further today but now its basically just a scorpion which is a lil straighter, so I still have quite a bit to work on. I did manage to get both hands past my heel tho:) Day 3) basically the same as yesterday Day 4) I got kinda frustrated cuz it was actually worse than the day before, kinda like day one Day 5) I actually tried my other leg cuz my splits are better on that side, so now I'm basically the same on both legs OMG I JUST FOUND THIS OLD COMMENT OF MINE AND I JUST SPENT MORE THAT AN HOUR WORKING OUT AND STRETCHING AND TRYING TO DO A NEEDLE AND IM SO CLOSE BUT EVERYTHING HURTS 2 years later update (people were asking hehe) : I'm proud to say I got my needle for the first time about a year ago! (i now use the other leg where i said my splits are better haha) at first i pretty much broke my back everytime i did and i had to stretch for ever before my attempts but by now I can stretch for only 5 minutes and do a needle after! (remember this was with very inconsistent stretching and practicing so if you actually practice/stretch regularly, like 5 times a week or something you'll be able to get it earlier for sure!) some tips i would give to anyone trying to get their needle: -record yourself so you can spot mistakes and improve! -stretch your back, shoulders and legs around 5 times a week for 5-10 minutes -try out which activewear (especially footwear) works best for you! at the beginning I used to leave one foot barefoot for balance and the other one in a shoe bc its easier to grab lol -give your body a break when it needs it -experiment with where you can best grab your leg! i used to think I have to grab it at my knee but turns out mid-shin works out fine for me too:) -lastly don't give up! i know this is cheesy and everyone says it but thats cuz its true! you can do it, i believe in you bestie:) let me know if you have any more questions! I'll do my best to help you hehe

Before I saw this video I used to cry every time I couldn't get my needles or a scorpion couldn't even do a back Bend until I heard what you said "you can't do it all today but you can do it" made me want to try harder

Do you have any tips for grabbing a scorp with a bad shoulder? my left shoulder doesn't rotate well after a cheering injury and I haven't been able to pull a scorpion since

Maybe you should wait until your injury has gotten better instead of trying to rotate it farther than it can go

Dont make it bad by rotating it more..Be patient until ur injury chills a bit or else u can hurt it even bad than it is..Stay safe pls

I am a cheerleader I'm a national flyer I can nearly pull a needle but I'm not that close. I'll probably never get there but I'll keep trying till I get it my winterfest comps are the 1st and 2nd of July. I'm probably a little bit late in trying to reply to this, but a helpful tip one of my friends told me when I was trying to get my needle, was that if you know you have trouble with your back flexibility, try working on your shoulder flexibility. As long as your back flexibility is decent, you can get away with it if your shoulders are flexible enough. Obviously you would still want to keep working on your back as well, but it's just something else to keep in mind :)

I use to be really bad as well even when spotting but my balance has improved quite a bit. If spotting something & focusing on it isn't working then there are other exercises & things you can try. Try holding onto a chair or putting 1 hand on a wall to balance yourself while your other hand pulls your leg into a scorpion & hold that for 20 seconds or so. After doing that a few times, put 1 hand on the wall ( once again ) & lift your leg into a scorpion with your other hand. Hold your scorpion until your balanced & not wobbling then very slowly take your hand that's on the wall & bring it to your leg & ever so slowly straighten your leg into a needle. Once you've mastered that, try standing up against something that's only around knee height ( like a bed frame or something ) stand beside it & make sure that the bed frame is only knee height or under. Like in the past exercises, bring your leg up into a scorpion & slowly grab with both hands & straighten ( while focusing on balance ). Once your feeling confident doing that, you can attempt to try & do a needle or scorpion without anything to balance you at all. Some other balance exercises may need to be done before hand!

me too dont worry hahahah i practiced for for about 1 week on my balancing during gymnastic training and i got it so keep on focusing on balancing with your leg up or balancing on just one leg and the other can just stay bent. YOU CAN DO THISS!!! TRY
