How many stitches would I need with the border to make this pattern into a throw blanket?

You need to make a sample piece first. Count how many stitches there are to 4" (10cms) and how many rows. Decide how wide you want your throw. Then you can calculate how many stitches. If for example you have 24sts to 4", that is 6 STS to 1". If your throw is 60" wide, you need 60 x 6 sts.
