Background is MOOD! I totally understand your "respect" for horses, as an equiestrain and someone who wants to become and equine vet, you just have to know their signals to kind of predict how they are going to act.

Haha thank you! Yes they are large, beautiful and dangerous creatures - I will always have a respect for them!

I practiced veterinary medicine 11 years before I changed careers. I had a practice in a rural area, mixed animal practice. I told people horses are less than 3% of my practice and 95% of my injuries. I got kicked by both back legs simultaneously in the chest and leg. It was the only time I was hit so hard; I had difficulty recovering my breathing. I checked my color in case my spleen was ruptured. I got kicked in the mouth. I got three chipped teeth and lost a front tooth. I grew up on a dairy farm. I was taught to drive a tractor at 6 years of age. I do remember at 6 forgetting how to stop the tractor. I ran over a hay bail while towing a hay wagon. I treasure my life on the farm.

omg the last one!!!! did they get mad at you? btw that vet sounds like an asshole or was the vet nice to u when u got sick?

Hahaha yeah that last one was bad, they were mad but not like angry because they knew it was just a bad accident. No the vet was lovely! She just couldn't deal with me and the horse at the same time unfortunately, she helped me once the horse was under control

Do you not have any insurance in NZ? I'm an Aussie... studying vet in Germany..and we are strongly advised to have insurance...imagine breaking an endoscope or an MRI or something 😲😲😲 You guys seem to get so much more practical experience than we do. I'm so jealous 😭 P.s. your videos are great. There is way too little vet med content out there. Good luck with all of your future exams and pracs.

Only the practices/farms have insurance, not us ourselves! Thanks so much :)
