VA announced an update to the VA Schedule for Rating Disabilities (VASRD) specifically pertaining to digestive conditions. The changes add or modify rating criteria for 55 medical conditions in the rating schedule that incorporate medical advancements for treating certain disabilities and modern medical knowledge to compensate Veterans more accurately.
VA will also adjust the rating criteria for evaluating irritable bowel syndrome, also known as IBS. Previously, VA offered zero, 10 and 30 percent evaluations for the condition. Under the new criteria, Veterans may be entitled to 10, 20, or 30 percent evaluations based on the frequency of symptoms; therefore, new rating criteria will always offer a compensable evaluation.

Don't call the VA claims hotline number. They don't have any information on VA Claims.

I’m 70 ptsd 10 asthma 10 tinnitus 30 for migraines And I’m still 80 with their VA math 😂 I’ve had no help getting this far and just submitted all my own papers and went to the exams. Probably time I found a representative to help me out.

At 88% (90%). No matter what I need 50% 'somehow'. Have no MH rating but am seeing a VA doc for PTSD/Anxiety. Have combat (GW) and an aircraft accident as stressors....just need to get my info together and file for the last 30+ years of torment. 100% ? Who knows. Depends on the rater I guess.

It almost seems worth it going for claims that you know you will only get 0% for it you aren't 100%, in hopes of in the near future there is a change in the rating schedule.

Just had my private doctor update my symptoms on my IBS, to reflect new rating 30% criteria verbiage for my symptoms. Just in case. Because I’m getting ready to file some other secondary claims for my neck.

So for instance one is 100% p&t they go in and effectively make changes?? Not sure under 38cfr that's something they could do??? Man it sucks not to be able to trust our own country we all put on the uniform for 😢

I told my doc I felt uncomfortable about Something and he typed up I REFUSED to do something. SMH . That was wrong. Make sure y’all look at what they type in your interview. I didn’t “refuse “ anything.

Good info, I have a question: if I filed for GERD under old criteria but they incorrectly rated me (my VSO applied supplemental claim for me but got denied, I mentioned Higher level review but he advised not too, he is the one that got helped me get 40% SC, the VA tried rating me under the new criteria for recent denied supplemental claim). Should I have filed a higher level review to get a correction in rating under old criteria? What would you suggest?

i finally after 15 yrs got VA disability at 70% for Tenitas and my knees and hips from jumping out of airplanes but i was put out after 18yrs for sever PTSD told to take my discharg whic was Honerable but the hospital on base is not a hospita any more get SSDI from just my VA med records so they just sent me for a C&P exame

In July 1992 I got a SSB of $30,000 in an honorable discharge eight months after that I had low back problems in 2006. I filed a low back claim took it all the way up to the highest level and was denied now I have a 0% rating for low back, I applied for TDI because I was rated at 80% and I C&P examiner told me that they had found an x-ray from 1978. That service connects my lower back now I’m still waiting for my TDIU decision for 100% rating they’re also on the DOD side going to take my compensation money in September and I filed a hardship, but it didn’t get approved

I'm at 80% TDIU and I'm trying to get to 100% PT i have multiple disabilities and was recently denied a DDD appeal which I'm going to resubmit in a lane 1 filling because i believe there was an error because of my mos i did repetitive lifting which caused the injury to my back i need to know if there is some way that i can acquire a Nexus lette? I also have IBS but was treated but never rated for it and was denied for it also

I was denied both migraine and Gerd claim when I filed for direct service connection under TERA from the Gulf War. My question is can I do a supplemental claim but under aggravation due to ptsd service connection? Can you advise me how to go about this? Will my initial filing date still count for back pay if I do a supplemental claim with a different service connection?

I just had my C&P for Pact Act related conditions......Type 2 Diabetes(2011) and Prostate Cancer(2016). 40% established after retirement in 2004. Examiner said 4 to 5 weeks for them to make a determination. I'm kinda curious how much extra I am going to get? Back pay?? I had my Prostate removed so unsure how that may affect the rating.

I just have to say this so listen carefully Veterans. Whatever changes the VA has done seems to be working. What do I mean by that. 20 years ago I had a 0% disability rating, this year my disability rating is at 90%. 60% is due to the PACT ACT which I hope doesn’t get taken away if Trump becomes President and 30% is from the Insomnia due to TERA which surprised me because I tried to get my Insomnia secondary due to my tinnitus. But anyway the VA seems to be on the right track on getting benefits to Veterans that been waiting for decades like me so I have no complaints

30% here. Filed because the USMC told me to constantly take NSAIDS for my chronic pain in and out of service. Clear research on PubMed showing NSAID use over time for chronic pain causes GERD. Got my PCP to complete a DBQ and a Nexus Letter. Submitted both with a Self-Statement. Waited about 4-5 months for them to do nothing and bam. 30%

The last Heritage Foundation line item recommendations to change ratings criteria for specific conditions were followed during the end of the Trump administration unfortunately. Congress is the problem and you can clearly go look at who votes against veterans bills such as the PACT ACT.
