Attempting to use a small Vevor 3-in-1 Electric Hoist Winch to fold up our King Combo Ride- Can it handle the load? Can it replace 2 men (and a boy)?

We also have a new ride of the week. We'll be talking about an unusual Chance Rides creation called the "Pixie Plaza"
And, in celebration of World Fun Fair / Carnival month, we'll pay a visit to the carnival grounds.

I wouldn't label them "Up" and "Down" I'd label them "In" and "Out". That way you don't have to do any mental gymnastics if you use it in some weird orientation.

I completely agree with you. I had that thought while I was editing the video but didn't want to get all set up just to re-record that section.

I gotta give Vevor credit... At that price point, there's no reason NOT to have one in your tool arsenal. Made me think about how many times it'd been extremely handy to have over the years. The plaza rides was a brilliant concept. Makes me wonder why it's not still around. Thanks for another excellent video!

I was impressed with what it was able to do. It was almost a dead pull. The only leverage was the winch being slightly raised by sitting on the tire. I have seen another review where the cable wrapped and completely jammed itself up but I didn't experience anything like that.

wow it was so nice of them to send you that! i love your videos. I've always had an obsession with carnival rides and the way they fold up. when i was younger i built foldable rides with construx toys and my younger brother who is an electrician now helped put Littel electric motors out of other toys to make them run. my GI Joe guys were the test dummies.

Thank goodness you remembered to utter the magic words.. I was nervous. I have a good amount of Vevor gear, a mag drill and annular cutters, an air over hydraulic pump, and air bag jack, couple of other things too.. quality is really good. The 'cheap stuff' has really improved in recent years.

The fairs or "Volksfeste" as we call them in Bavaria, germany are going wild in september. So the Carnival month is quite fitting. I got tons of footage from Bavarian fairs/carnivals with huge rides by Huss, Schwarzkopf, KMG and stuff, but man do I love learning about the more simple and industrial looking rides from you guys in NA. I love the idea of the plaza rides. So many rides on one trailer? Very space efficient. Wouldn't work in germany, since every ride is owned by another showman, but still very awesome to look at. I would love to have a fair/carnival Edit: The footage from the Rainbow does not make it seem like a HUSS model. The gondola, the restrains and the shape of the different pieces don't quite look right. Looks like a good ride with solid airtime though.

Completely agree, that machine is definitely not a Huss. I would be very inclined to think that is an ARM Ali Baba, based on seat arrangement, seat number, overall size etc.

Hey Pete, love your video's. Love these US carnival rides. So different from the European ones. As mentioned before , the rainbow was not a Huss, but I didn't know which one it was. Anyway, it is always fun to ride one of these. I had the chance to ride the Huss version at fairs and amusement parks in Belgium during the 90's. Anyway, keep posting those video's. Best regards, a Belgian fan.

Its funny to see that most of the rides in the states dont have a control booth but just the controls out in the open. Only the small kids rides have no booth over here in Scotland.
@PeteRondeau
@PeteRondeau 9 ай бұрын
This is true. Majestic Midways here actually took the control booth off their KMG fireball when they had it in favor of just a small operator station. One less thing for them to move

You might want to mount the winch higher up so it pulls more upwards and less horizontal, all in all it will have an easier job with less strain on the middle board.
@PeteRondeau
@PeteRondeau 11 ай бұрын
There really is nothing higher, I'd have to build some sort of structure to attach it to. If it didn't work the way it was, my next plan would have been to loop the cable up over a post sitting on the deck- creating a gin pole sort of apparatus to give some leverage.

VEVOR making the rounds on all my favorite channels. They seem like they visited all the Harbor Freight suppliers and said "Me too, me too!"

I won't argue with you on that, I actually described their business model to a friend in almost the same way. On the other hand, I had a real need for this product and it came along at the right time so I wasn't opposed to doing it. Vevor has been very aggressive pursuing KZfaq creators but I have to give them credit for one thing- They don't ask for any sort of editorial review before you publish your video. They send you the product and you make a video- good or bad it goes online.

I know you want to keep the rides original design flavor but have you considered rounding to folding wings to form an oval? It would reduce the wing weight. I was amazed the winch was able to retract the wing in the initial 'straight line of pull'. I was expecting the center hitch point would require 18 " above the deck mounting.
@PeteRondeau
@PeteRondeau 11 ай бұрын
@@waynespyker5731I was expecting to need to use a pole to raise the middle of the cable so I was surprised when it basically did a dead pull and just lifted it up. I have considered rounding off all the corners, or just rounding the front two corners and leave the back two corners square to hold background scenery. The jury is still out on those decisions.

Does that motor have an internal motor brake? I would consider changing the button icons something like "Pay In/Out" instead. But i agree, the arrows are not great choices.
@PeteRondeau
@PeteRondeau 11 ай бұрын
No, there is no braking. There is a limit switch but it just kills the motor- doesn't stop it. After making the video I realized I should have chosen In & out rather than up & down.

Can you give an update. I'm looking 👀 at this to lift front of lawn mower to change blades
@PeteRondeau
@PeteRondeau 6 ай бұрын
We used the winch in a more recent video to lift the shaft into the tower of one of the rides we are working on. hung it from a tree branch. I think lifting the front of a mower would be the perfect sort of job for this winch. I'd still want to block it up after lifting it though and not just rely on it hanging from the cable.
