Wow, This is awesome. I didnt know where this channel would go, I am really enjoying it and hope my content continues to improve. I plan on keeping at it and sharing with everyone. One of the best parts has been meeting such great people who are interesting in the same thing. I have found that the hobby (and skilled professionals) maching community are some of the best people out there. Thanks for watching and sticking wtih me. Thanks for sharing that they did a survey. Exciting stuff for me.

Believe it or not thats pretty helpful. My Vevor lathe is similar and always knew the compound at an angle caused a huge loss of rigidity for me- your timelapses show it well how the 45 lets it torque over. Paralell to the feed helps alot. Cheers

parting blade is sticking out to far only needs to be enough to reach center of cut or thru wall thickness of tubing, solid stock needs to be parted on slower side but tubing needs to be running faster. i've watched all your videos and you are learning, maybe you should introduce yourself like all the big names do

I see that now after re-wathing the video, I did have a reason and it was to clear the tool holder but i could ahve also extended my workpiece to make clearance and perhaps get more stability or rigidity from the parting blade. I'll remember this for next time. Thanks for watching, Do you think it would be more interesting to introduce my videos with a brief overview and be on camera? Its been hard to put myself out there but if there is positive reaction to it and people like it I would consider it. I want to continue to improve my content.

Hey Deez Parting on these smaller lathes is very troublesome. The way the compound attaches to the cross slide is not very rigid. I usually don't part on my lathe unless it is brass. I usually just remove the part and cut it with a saw and then face the part to length. The way the compound is bolted to the disc in the cross slide is very unreliable. If you watch the video closely you can notice how the whole compound lifts when the parting blade gets pulled under the part. Also you run the risk of damaging something else. I've seen people break the gibs on the saddle from the strain that the tool binding up places on the whole saddle. In my opinion it's not worth the trouble and honestly you don't save much time by parting if any at all.

I went back and re-watched the video, I didnt realize just how much the compouns was lifting. I need to be careful here, I certainly dont want to damage anything especially my Gib :-) Seriously though I may go with the same path you have gone and consider geting a band saw and face things off. At least until I get better parting software materials. Good advice all around.

@@deezworkshop yeah the gibs under the saddle are thin flat pieces of cast iron that crack easily. But cracking the cross slide would be worse. The Bauer band saw that HF has is actually pretty good and fairly inexpensive. But if you do get one make sure to buy blades, the box says the blades are sold separately but it is in small writing and easy to miss.

@@WILFRED1184 Thanks, Several have recommended a HF bandsaw, Im going this route, Need to wait until after christmas, Typically get a gift card and then ill grab one. I have used my hacksaw wuite a bit already for this hobby and I dont see that need changing as I continue. Appreciat the tip on the blades, I would have missed that.
