Vevor Next Generation Magnetic Drill Review (Vast Improvement)

This is a vastly improved unit compared to their older yellow ones, better build quality, magnet/motor safety interlock, electronic load compensating variable speed with reverse capability, improved sealed magnet switch and raised panel motor power switch which is easier to turn off in an emergency. Double slide system so the motor can be raised high up when using the included 5/8" (16mm) capacity drill chuck with twist drills.
Nitto-Kohki compatible 3 ball bearing quick change system produces a self-centering effect during cutting to improve cutter concentricity, performance, and and cutter life without having to deal with Weldon shank set screws.
1400 watts, 0-800 rpm constant variable speed.

I think he, Joshua de Lisle, and a few others will be holding their feet to the flames so their products are well improved. I think Vevor wants to be another HFT, and I love it.

Vevor doesn't make products they just slap stickers on them and they are still selling crappy mag drills not just the new and improved model shown here. If you read the reviews for even this one many are not running true. Did he say if he bought it or they gave it to him for free? Demo products sent for video reviews usually get a good quality control check.

@@NoName-ml5yk Please show us on the Dolly where the big bad Vevor touched you? Basic facts are as a supplier of Chinese origin product they 'generally' are better than the average. The conclusions here about the old ones being rubbish compared to this one was made VERY CLEAR!

The "double V" that you refer to is called a dovetail. It is widely use on all sorts of machine tools and will have gibs to adjust out the play.

Excellent! I've been eyeing these for a couple years now and the wonderful new mfgr for Vevor's mag drills bring a helluva lot of improvement and accuracy for only $50 more. WELL worth it!

You need to measure that runout with a dial Indicator. I would like to know what type of bearings are used in the arbor..nice review however, thanks.

Man I got this drill. Mine like yours was true till I started drilling. When I started drilling it started wobbling through the frame, not the chuck. Very disappointing!

9:35 imperial is the phrase I think. With the old one, as it wore in a little, it had a tendency to drift slightly with the torque applied to the rails, is this still the case ?

Really great review! Im really tempted by this model! But, the Nitto Kohki cutters are really expensive compared to the set screw type. I wonder if Vevors updated manufacturing is better (less runout/wobble) with the set screw models as well? That version has all the same features except no quick change and only 2 metric cutters (as per their website)

Thanks for the review! I just got my mine (1300W, 0-700 RPM though). I noticed that the base was quite warm with the mag switch on. I don't know if it is normal.

Thats normal, electromagnets generate heat under load.

It definitely sounds like it was bogging down far more than I would expect in such thin material. Sounds to me like despite the upgrades it is still very much a budget drill and I'm sorry but I don't trust any commissioned reviews. Many, probably most mag drills have the ability to attach the handles from either side or even a 1/2" sq drive ratchet, extension, etc. Some units have a circlip, which is not ideal. I would consider an E-clip probably the most inconvenient method if you were trying to efficiently drill a bunch of holes, you are probably not going to remove and replace that clip too many times before you lose it, bend it or break it. All in all, looks fairly decent for the money, but I doubt it would last very long, You also didn't test the strength of the magnet.

Wow you don't get those features with evolution wow wish I would have known or waited iwas looking for mag drills looked all vevor red and yellow but liked the height of evo42 and drilling but didn't come with chuck or variable speed could have saved money and more features . But I bought 3 other things from vevor and had good experience can't wait for the next knock off tool they come up with.

I'm about to buy a Vevor. However, I am confused with the different machines that Vevor has. The machines don't seem to have a model-name and the selection of the different sets doesn't work on the official site. I'm looking for a magnetic drill with speed control and automatic coolant control. I find the fact that the machine stops turning at low speeds under load to be a disadvantage. To me it looks like they just used a rotary resistor instead of frequency control.

It is my bearing press, it was an old simple tensile testing frame, that is why it is so overbuilt for it's size.

It uses Nitto-Kohki cutters, There is also an adapter to go from the jet broach shank to standard Weldon.

You can still use metric annular cutter's with metric nuts and bolts...🤷‍♂️BIG CAT 🐈 13:55... Or use the strap that they send with the unit or both....
