That “NASA” comment was a red flag for me. People love to throw “NASA” on whatever crackpot thing they have for credibility. “NASA can’t explain…” “NASA confirms…” NASA does have a telescope on Hawaii but it’s certainly not the first Hawaiian telescope anyone would think of; Keck would be that, which has nothing to do with NASA.

As an hobby astrophotographer in the past I’ve seen many satellites and able to confirm them on Star Walk app. The truly weird things I’ve seen over the years are when I saw something that appeared to be a satellite and then suddenly shoots off to the horizon in a blink and gone. I’ve seen this happen twice in a decade, any possible explanations for it? 🤔
@ChonysSmile

Same, I've watched several moving objects that I've thought were a satellite or a meteorite and it suddenly speeds of in the opposite direction. One time I was lounging back just absent mindedly gazing up and locked my eye on one particular star for about one minute. It literally seemed to behave exactly like a star gently twinkling completely still, then it lost luminosity for a moment and started moving slowly, then shot off out of the southern hemisphere all within 5seconds. I was a bit stunned. Still don't know what that could've been other than some form of technology.

This was so satisfying. The main thing that would be easy to miss is that we're watching that dot moving around on the screen smoothly, but it's a 5 hour timelapse, with a photo for each frame taken every, what, 30 seconds? A minute? If it had been an aircraft or a drone of any kind, it would move too much between frames and would be popping in and out of different areas of the shot each frame. The fact it's moving so smoothly means it's actually going incredibly slowly. Balloon makes perfect sense.

One thing for sure two things for certain is it's too far away for it to be a plane or to even tell if it's a balloon, and it's a night and the erratic moves and moments are unlike a plane of any sort. putting up still images of air maps and pictures of big ass balloons with crazy institutional names and articulating it to fit your narrative isn't debunking are proving anything just merely preying on the minds of individuals that have not reach the levels of discernment when using their own minds.... believe nothing question everything. ..... we're all living in an unprecedented time of change as change is ever constant. Well, balloons are dirt cheap (compared to anything else flyable), does not require humans onboard, can be even equipped with solar-powered equipment, they can fly super high and can be equipped with any kind of sensors, cameras or antennas you wish to put on them and can be as big as a bus. The only downside: can't really control the winds so they're not practical for precision flight. Anything else: suuuuuper easy to do.

It’s when you have flying objects of obvious large size that move faster than everything else while also making deliberate turns or maneuvers that demonstrate the object is reacting that you run into situations that balloons are not possibly an explanation… Personally, years ago I was outside just stargazing and saw some “thing” flying high above. It was night time but it had steady red and green lights, but weren’t blinking. At first, I was thinking it was either a helicopter or a drone, but then I realized that if it was a helicopter, from where it appeared to be, it would have been very audible, but I didn’t hear it. So I figured it HAD to be a drone. I watched it hover motionless for nearly 45 minutes and just thought “wtf is this drone owner doing? Did they start flying it and have to step away for something and forget about it?? But then it started ascending. Higher and higher. Not stopping. It was a fairly clear night, so it was obvious it was climbing higher and higher. Eventually it went so high I lost sight of it. What drone owner would do this? Would it’s batteries have lasted long enough for it to maintain a steady altitude for over an hour and still climb up so high that visual is lost? I waited for around 30 minutes and never saw anything in its general area descend or fall, when I would think that a drone would have at that point. No idea what it could have been. Something that hovered motionless almost an hour and then went straight up and never came back down.
@Insanerobert44
@Insanerobert44 2 жыл бұрын
@@kidwajagstang it still sounds like something man-made. Red and green lights are standard aviation visual signals for position. I guess it could be some research or testing hover device - ballon or drone. Those 45 minutes of hover could be also for telemetry readings, instrument calibrations, data check, possible issues to debug etc. My guess is they did some readings/checks at nigt - the lights are mandatory since that drone/balloon is still flying in a controlled aerospace (you need flight approval for anything bigger than a commercial drone and capable of flight above 300m, plus you must comply with other extra regulations for these kinds of flights) so this is why you have the visual red/green lights - to make it more safe for other pilots that could end up near it (even if their flight plan is not intended to). Usually they launch balloons during the day, but if you have some kind of experiment at night then it could be required to have the extra lights you don't usually see on them for visual position. Also, if the balloon would climb above controlled aerospace you could turn off the lights to save battery for other instruments, let's say around 15-20.000m above since you're out of risk of colliding with an aircraft or anything else.

@tbotalpha8133
@tbotalpha8133 2 жыл бұрын
@@insanebmxthomas Balloons can't get to space, because they don't have any thrust to escape Earth's gravity well. Balloons float upwards because of buoyancy, which requires a medium like water or air, under pressure due to the forces of gravity. All balloons rise through the atmosphere until they reach a point where either: A. The atmospheric pressure around them gets so low, that it no longer counteracts the internal pressure of the balloon's contents pushing out. If the balloon's skin isn't strong enough to contain this internal pressure, the skin will tear and release the balloon's contents (it will "pop"). Most balloons, like party balloons for instance, are not strong enough, and will just rise until they burst. Though some, like weather balloons, are designed to survive at high altitudes, because it's important for them to stay that high up for long periods. In those cases... B. They reach an equilibrium point, where the upward force of buoyancy becomes equal to the downward force of the balloon's own weight. A balloon at that height will not rise or fall, so long as its conditions remain stable. This point can be very high - 173,900 ft appears to be the record altitude, from my reading - but a balloon at that altitude isn't in outer space. It's just floating on the surface of the atmosphere, like a ship floating on the surface of the sea. It can't go any higher, because there's no atmosphere in space. No atmosphere means no buoyancy means no rising motion. The Fédération aéronautique internationale has a term for the boundary of space: the "Kármán line". It's 100 km up, and is defined as the point where aerodynamics stop being useful, and astrodynamics must be used instead to maintain flight. No balloon will ever cross the Kármán line, because they are devices that are fundamentally dependent on aerodynamics to function.

Just wanted to comment on the satellite path part. Different satellite orbits can look very interesting from the ground. A geosynchronous orbit actually makes an infinity symbol when observed from the ground, while a molniya orbit will look like a rapid movement, looks like it's decelerating, stops, then falls back down. You can't see most satellites, but it is still possible depending how the sun may be reflecting off of them at night (as they may be too high to be eclipsed by the earth). If they're in a maneuver (which can be frequent for LEO birds) they may "pop" into sight for a few seconds through the reflection and will appear as a shooting star. That with the combination of high eccentric orbits can make an object appear almost still, then shoot off in a direction especially when viewed in a time lapse. The point being, satellites are undergoing a constant orbit, but it doesn't always look like that when observed from the ground.

I saw something very similar to this about 10 years ago. Thought it was a satellite or just a star at first since it was so far I could barely see it. Then, it quickly started to move to other stars and stop right on them for about a minute then move to the next star. What freaked me out about it was that every star it stopped on was just gone, like it put something in the way to block my view of the star.

My wife and I have seen what looks like stars that speed around the sky way quicker than any plane. Sometimes they kinda chase each other around, making sharp 25-30° turns. That was when we lived in northern BC on the Alaska highway. I haven't seen them in years though. I have met several people that have seen them.

Another helpful tool that came up in that raw data is that the coma was consistent with all other point light sources in the shots. This gives both an indication about how far away the light source is and how big it is in terms of arc length. Something very high that's very small fits perfectly. (This would also be helpful in confirming authenticity since coma is part of the optical signature of a particular lens and changes throughout the field of view -- aka, it would be very difficult to fake and make look right)
@TheHuesSciTech
@TheHuesSciTech 2 жыл бұрын
All good points, except I'd guess that the difference in the coma of point sources at 8000 feet, 30000 feet, or infinity would be basically indistinguishable.

I agree with all the other replies. The NASA budget is pennies compared to the US GDP. They have a lot of important things to do and about ten times as many that are denied funding. I can’t imagine there’s much enthusiasm for the constant questions and harassment they probably get about aliens. Besides, the US military budget is so insanely overfunded that they know it’s nothing serious if the military isn’t already on it with all their top-tier equipment.

I would have guessed that it was a small chunk of frozen water, like a comet, that entered the upper atmosphere and then the Leidenfrost effect allowed it randomly to float around for a bit before it sublimated/evaporated away.
@clintbustwood4800

Did you just learn what the leindenfrost effect is? the sky isn't a skillet, its three dimensional, any matter entering or leaving the atmosphere at a temperature capable of engaging the effect to a degree where it would perform any actions in the shot would have lit up the sky like the sun was about to slam into the earth

i had to made some estimates about the height of this loon(but used info of the company) and arc angle we are watching, but then it took some really easy calculations to estimate its speed at around 7km/h(if i tweaked the angle it would be between 5 - 10km/h), so that would definitely fall into what these loons might be doing at 20km altitude(yes, you get faster wind speeds at this altitude(around 25km/h), but the air pressure is quite low, so it doesnt push that hard), good job guys, looks like you have identified a loon:) (sorry for metric units, but its a lot easier for me)

It was kinda buggin me so i tried to estimate its speed at various altitudes and arc angles of view and it looks like there is no way it would exceed the wind speed anywhere. If it was flying at jet stream altitudes(8-15km) it would even be terribly slow compared to wind speeds and under it not that terribly slow but still too slow. So i think its pretty save to say that this is above that level. Which points me to the loon again. I just had to make sure this is not bs:)
