My Dad and I are both train enthusiasts, and we took this train trip at the end of November 2022 but we started in Vancouver and headed east to Toronto. I had never ridden a train before this trip and I can't say enough good things about the trip itself, the workers on and off the train and the gourmet food we had for every meal on board as well as the fantastic scenery that Canada provided for us

Back in the mid 1960's my sis (RIP) & I travelled from New Hazelton BC to Bigger Sk...nice stop in Smithers, Prince George, & Jasper along the way... (We went to a boarding school in Rosetown) fond memories! Then in the early 1990's my hubby (RIP) & I travelled by train from New Hazelton to Prince Rupert BC ...more fond memories........... When I was a kid my father and his brother both born in Canada loaded up the whole family on the Poller Bear express , a train excursion taking us into Northern Ontario during the month of July in the early 70’s where the ground was still crunchy walking around on the ground. We fondly recall visiting Indian reservations as a Portly lady in her attire baked us raisin bread on a stick twisting it on an open fire. Was excellent and the memories lasting. Great memories and excellent content. Thanks..

My Father, was an Engineer for the CPR, with 46 years for the company. He started on Steam engines and ended bring the last CPR, Canadian into Vancouver from North Bend. He gave me the Reverser and his Gold watch when he retired that day in 1991. J Bruce Allen ( Old Buddy ) Senior Engineer of British Columbia. Cheers.

WOW Canada is so beautiful!! I want to go on that trip ; the meals look great! The part with the trees I think that was the McLure Fire 2003 it burned 65,285 acres and 72 homes. What a Wonderful Trip!! Thanks for showing us!!!

You should do it , if you go in the summer there is more daylight hours we saw the North Thompson river it was spectacular and we have driven an RV through the Fraser Canyon that was awesome too. It is a truly Canadian thing to do how about doing it both ways 🤔Cheers 🚂🙂

First off - I love your Channel! Such amazing insights to downsizing, etc. This video offers such beautiful scenic views from VIA route Toronto to Vancouver through your eyes! This video is incredible and the both of you are very charming. I am making my first trip to Vancouver on the train from Winnipeg in July and I am so excited. I went to Toronto a few months ago and I’ve travelled to Toronto on the train many many times when I was a child but it had been about 20 years since I was on the train and it just felt like home. Our trip was one way Toronto to Vancouver and then we flew back with Porter airlines ✈️Kim 🍷🚂🙂

I am a relatively recent subscriber to your channel. I have watched this video before but it just showed up in my feed. Just today I booked the Ocean from Halifax to Montreal; The Corridore from Montreal to Toronto and the Canadian from Toronto to Vancouver I am doing it solo for my 65th birthday next year.

We didn’t really think about it, but having done the trip it seemed brief, we did meet a woman on the train with her elderly parents and they were returning on the train. You would probably get the same menu on the way back. No we don’t think it would be too much.

Really cute - thanks for doing this! That's a lot of sitting and eating - doesn't seem like you get much of a chance to move around - can you at least wander about on the train while you are moving if you start to go stir crazy?

Your trip brought back memories of our trip from Edmonton to Toronto in February 1971 on our way to a 21/2 year stay in Iceland. My wife and I and our infant son had a ' bedroom ' ( same as your 'cabin' ) as far a Winnipeg where CN switched us to two 'roomettes'.

Great trip. Smittys in Jasper would have been a better choice for breakfast there! - A two minute walk away from the information/tourist office. You will have to go again!

Wow, this looks like a great adventure. I always wanted to do a train trip across the U.S. also. I love the idea of the cabin with its own bathroom. The dining car looks great as did the food. The food was presented so well. It looked like you got to try almost everything on the menu. This was a great video. However, you made me nervous about missing the train.

Thanks Eric, it truly was a glimpse of history how people used to travel, these rail cars were made in 1957 and have been updated. Sorry to have raised the tension in Jasper getting back on the train 🚂

What a treat! This is also on my bucket list. I am an avid railway fan and never got around to doing this trip after living in Canada almost all of my life. The prices seem to be very reasonable. I was surprised actually. I’ll definitely be doing this trip. Thank you Tina and Norm for reminding us how blessed we are to live in this beautiful country.

What a great trip. We did this same trip in May 2014 BUT we are thinking of doing it again in March 2024 in Prestige Class, way too much money but as they say you only go around once. The weather is always a factor, but we intend to leave enough time at both ends for such events.
