Keep them for your city boots for a while. When they need a resole get the Vibram mini-lug sole and keep them for your city boots - or get the 705 again. The nice thing about a sole like that is it doesn't track dirt clods everywhere! If you're getting them re-soled send them to Frank's Boots in Spokane.

@@williamward7707 I think what joe means is wear the ravens as is until they need a resole, then resole them with a lug sole. That way you’d have a nice pair of dress boots for a good year or two, then a perfectly broken in work boot once they slap the ole lug sole on. That’s what Id do with em at least!

For what it's worth, I've got a set of Redwings with the Vibram 132's 'loggers' (I think) and they are by far my favorite every day sole. Fell into these ones and ended up finding them to be the best all round. Soft and grippy enough for wet work and when it gets cold, but hard enough to hold up. When they wear/round down a bit they look good as casual boots too. The vibram 109's are the same but the with the stiffer western heel yet still has some lug. Just my .02 that's what I'd go with cheers.

The boots that I have loved and worked hard, they can’t be replaced. If I were you, I would give those new boots that special place right now. They will be with you to the hole. Don’t mess with them. They will suit you better in the rocking chair one day. I am saying the smoother sole will suit you better in the long run. Test others in the field and preserve your favorites, they may not be available again, as I have found. Give them a special place, and enjoy others in more challenging service. Just my opinion, but I collect old stuff that I love, and I think you do too.

I would run them like they are for a while. Lug soles tend to track mud and other stuff indoors where you don’t necessarily want to have to clean up every time you walk in. Both pair of Nick’s I have are a v100 and they carry a lot of stuff in the heavy lugs. Sometimes I wish I had something a little less aggressive for a outsole.

Nice boots! If you plan on wearing those working in the woods have them resoled. I wore a pair of muck boots one day in the woods when the liners for my winter caulk boots were wet, I slipped on a bank caught a limb buried in the snow and destroyed my knee. I consider my boots to be one of my most important pieces of equipment after that (it's not what they cost, it's what they save) Mud, snow, wet grass, slippery bark, it's not worth running slippery soles. I would probably keep those for working in the shop or going to town boots otherwise.

I've been wearing boots since I was about 4 or 5. I can't say I know you but I've been watching your channel for a few years now. So I see what you do or at least on your channel. I myself have several pair of boots I got cowboy boots for s*** kicking downtown Saturday night but they're kind of hard to get into anymore I've had my ankles smashed between two cars I've been stepped on by cows drop trees on them or at least log rounds beat battered and abused jumped out of semi trailers as long haul driver farmer climber faller bucker. In the woods I've always worn Whites with lugs or spikes. Around the house from the farm always wore smoother soles especially working mechanic work and on the farm and whatever around the house maintenance and such because of the dirt track. At 64 I've given up the spikes. Working as you do and your shop with saws and axes and going to be doing some forge work and so on and so forth I would keep those boots the way they are and get another pair with deep lug vibram. I got to say part of the reason I wouldn't get rid of them slick boots is because I'm too damn cheap I'd wait till they need resoled at the very least. Good chanel my hats off to you keep it up and stay kind. Bill W is a pretty good friend of mine. West Central Mountains in Id.

First off I was commited to White's boots for years but when they sold out and the quality went to hell I bought my first pair of Nick's boots. We are lucky here in the north west cause there is some really quality bootmakers here. So with that being said you know what our weather is like up here. Between the rain and snow and the outdoors we work in it is almost a must to have lugged boots. Were hearty folks up here and ya I very rarely wear anything but my loggers. Out shopping for groceries or taking the wife out for dinner or just hanging out with friends I feel most comfortable in my boots and so are most of my buddies. So ya lugged boots do hold the mud on them and ya my wife does get a bit irritated when I track in the dirt but it's better than slipping on a log or slipping in the mud and twisting an ankle like I did walking a creek fishing a couple years ago in flat bottom boots. So all my boots are lugged and have the big heels on them for traction in all kinds of weather, and I do wear a taller boot also, my Nicks are 14 inches which are great for out in the woods tromping through the brush. SO YA I WOULD DEFINATELY GET THEM RESOLED ASAP

I would definitely add the tractor treads, I did that with my Dayton's, best choice ever. Now as for the Vibergs I had a pair of their 6"stompers, worst boot ever. They killed my feet and to add insult to injury these boots where made in china "not worth the capital" I spasificaly naught them to support a Canadian company. I am now wearing 8"" Canada west line man's boots so far they are excellent. I'm a welder so they do take a shot kicken anyway great videos.👍👍

Resole to the Vibram V-100 lugs 100%. The main reason is safety. I don’t want to see you get hurt from taking a weeper off a log. Can’t wait to see what you decide

Resole em'....your not a guy that's going to stick those in the closet for your Sunday go to meeting boots, you're going to wear em for everything. I remember you wore those vintage new corks that didn't fit on a job a few years back....you're going to wear them as you should! A guy like you can cut a rug in some lugs. 😎👊 I like the look of the lugs too, I'd resole them if they were mine. Love ya BBR!

Buckin, knowing you, since you’ve first bought those boots, you’ve been talking about that sole. Do what will make you happy. You know. You know.

I’m not shy to spending money in Canada. I bought a Kmc site unseen! I’d get them resiled to a lug and wear the crop out of them everyday!
